of where to bring your vehicle. We display all relative information, especially

Getting the Best Price
When looking for a mechanic, one of the hardest tasks can be finding a good mechanic
at a reasonable price. While it is impossible to determine the exact costs of a
particular job, there are a few steps which we have found helpful.
One the best ways to find a good price is to shop around. Using our directory find
three or four mechanics in your area that are qualified to service your issue. Contact
each mechanic and ask for an estimate. Depending on the job, the mechanic will most
likely need to see your car so you may have to set an appiontment. While going to
three or four appiontments can seem like a lot they typically only take a few minutes
and will likely save you from touble down the road.
Each appiontment should be viewed as an interview. Look to see how the shop is setup.
Is it well organized? Does it appear to be busy? Is it in a good area? All these
factors can help to determine how well a shop is run. A well organized mechanic
can likely work faster and will have lower hours of labor. A busy mechanic is likely
working with revisting customers and if customers are returning they have likely
been happy with the past work.
Especially in smaller shops, it is important to meet the mechanic and discuss the
details of the estimate. It is important to feel comfortable with the mechanic.
Does he act like he knows what hes doing? Is he a nice guy? How are his employees?
It is important to develop a good relationship with your mechanic. If there is a
problem, you want a Mechanic that will go back and fix his mistakes. A strong relationship
with your mechanic can last a lifetime.
Finding the Most Qualifies
When searching for a qualified repair shop it is always smart to see if they have
taken any steps to show their qualifications. ASE certified mechanics have undergone
extensive training and tests. ASE stands for Automotive Service Excellence and was
founded in 1972 by the National Institute for Automotive Excellence and have since
certified more than 400,000 automotive professionals. Use our database to search
for an auto repair facility that meets your needs and check to see if they are ASE
certified.
Finding the Most Qualifies
It is extremely important that before you pay for your repairs
that you inspect your car. Repair shops can often be a busy place and cars can get
damaged while in the shop. If possible, you also want to inspect areas which have
been repaired. In body repairs, you want to make sure the paint blends to the color
of your car and that all parts have been added. Once a repair is paid for, it is
much harder to get a mechanic to go back and fix a mistake. If you are unsure about
your mechanic, ask for a test ride before paying the repair.
