My appointment was at 9 am (opening time). There was only one person working in the showroom, I'm guessing the manager or owner. There were no salesmen or other customer service reps, so I'm not sure who is in charge of helping people to find what they're looking for. Luckily, my needs were simple. The man at the counter had me checked in by about 9:05, which isn't bad, considering he was on a phone call and helping another customer when I walked in (Like I said, they could use a floorperson). The service only took about 90 minutes. No muss, no fuss. They do need to add more variety into their magazine offerings in the waiting area. One year-old Connecticut Magazine, a bunch of industry stuff (sound systems, etc.), and lots and lots of Exquire and GQ magazines. They should know that their customer base includes more than just men and sound junkies.

I paid approximately $325 for the order. The following day, Payless reported to the interior shop (2 blocks away as agreed) and removed the back glass and windshield. Approximately 3 days later, the headliner was replaced and I requested that they reinstall the back window and install the new windshield. I received conflicting dates as to when the job would be done, all the while the car was kept at the interior shop and utilizing a bay. On 8/4, I went back to the Payless and spoke to the manager who said that he was backed up and couldn't complete job until Thursday or Friday. On Saturday, the job still wasn't done and I had to have the car towed away from the interior shop at my expense. I insisted that Payless return my monies in full however they demanded to be paid for removing the back glass. I asked for the return of my original windshield however was told that it was thrown away. I would not recommend this business to anyone and plan legal action against them. I planned to have the car complete to deliver to my dad during a vacation later that month, they completely ruined the plan. Terrible business and attitude from the management.

Given his recommendation which I respect, I called Great Scot and spoke with "Tom" and he said he could fit me in between 1:00 and 1:30 on Saturday for an installation of the same product (they had one left in the display for $119.99). I arrived at 1:15 and waited until about 1:45 as Tom was speaking with a customer who owned a BMW and was pricing a much larger order than mine so it was logical that he took preference over me. But what offended me was that after he was done with the BMW customer, he immediately gave his attention to a customer who walked in after me. I walked out. But I decided to go back and let him know what happened so that he was aware of it from a customer service viewpoint. His response was that it always "mayhem" around there and he smiled and turned his attention to another customer. So I walked out again, went home and priced the same item on amazom.com for $76.00, including shipping ($46 cheaper than his 'sales price'). In fact, I found a "JVC KD-HDR60 USB/CD Receiver w/ Built-In HD Radio Tuner and iTunes Tagging, USB 2.0 for iPod/iPhone, and Bluetooth/Satellite Radio add-on capability" for $98.00, including shipping ($21 cheaper than his 'sales price'). I have plenty of tech savvy friends who can install it for me without the "mayhem" of Great Scot. Maybe if he hired one sales associate he could provide better customer service and actually make more money by doing so (the old fashioned business model).
