I HAVE A 99 MURCURY COUGAR WHEN IM DRIVING IT DOESNT WONT TO SHIFT THE RPM GET UP TO 4 AND 5 AND SOMETIMES WHEN IT SHIFTS ITS LIKE IT DOUBLE SHIFTS WHY? OR WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Billy Ford trannys have a problem with fluid contamination in the converter. Even with a standard fluid & filter change it doesnt help.I would try doing a transmission flush WITH a filter change.

The first thing I would check is your transmission fluid. If that's not the problem then it sounds like you need to get your car to a transmission shop for diagnostic check. ..
