put cables on wrong when jump starting, now ca wont start what to do

went to jump start my 92 toyota previa and put the cables on wrong and now it won't start, why abd how can I fix it

well you have probably blown a fusable link, which is much like a fuse. can most likely be found near the battery and it looks like a piece of wire , but when a circut is shorted the wire inside breaks, which then breaks the circut

Another question for you: does the starter engage now and turn over, or does the ignition do nothing? If the car turns over then the only reason it would not start is the computer. A shop should be able to diagnose this. If the car does not then get it towed to the shop, the problem is you shorted out the computer.

Hopefully it is only some fuses; however, I would check all grounds, the starter, and the alternator. Could be as simple as a fuse or as complicated as every electrical motor in the car.

people do this all the time.. just check your fuses one will be blown. your owners manual will tell you were the fuse box is.
