I've been coming here since when the guys only serviced Hondas (hence the name Japanese Beetle Shop, at least back in those days). They have service our 1997 (that's right folks) Honda Accord Wagon since 1997. Mike and Dave are the BEST. Fair, honest, quality auto repair. Reliable, on time delivery. I support our local independents. Even better when they provide outstanding service with a smile. Chat up a storm with Mike (I can call him Mickey) about his kids and anything else. Highly recommended. No frills but who needs your car washed and pickup service when you can TRUST the mechanic who works on your car?
Was recommended Japanese Beetle by my friend who heard about this plac... read more Was recommended Japanese Beetle by my friend who heard about this place from some people at his work...this was nearly 20 years ago. When I had my Honda Civic, I would bring it here to be worked on. Will have the husband's CR-V serviced here whenever it starts running rough and he realizes it needs to be maintained. After I purchased my Acura TSX, told myself after a certain amount of miles I'll stop bringing it to the dealer for maintenance and come here. Well, when my service light came up with B14, I knew it was going to be a huge one in terms of cost. I called the dealer and sure enough they wanted my left kidney. I called Japanese Beetle and when they quoted me a price I had to ask again to make sure I was hearing correctly. I don't feel like I'm being taken advantage of because I'm female; Mike and Dave are honest and will let me know if they find something wrong ahead of time, not pressuring to get the work done at that time. Will continue to get my cars serviced here as long as they're around.
At the end of January 2013, my wife and I went to Livermore Ford to lo... read more At the end of January 2013, my wife and I went to Livermore Ford to look at an 2002 Explorer that was advertised. When we got there, the vehicle was still in the rear of the dealership and filthy dirty beyond all belief both inside and out. It was obviously the truck was not ready to be shown so I'm not sure why it was listed. Anyway we test drove the truck after a very quick wash and immediately noticed some strange sounds and shifting issues. Ben, the salesman with us, heard us and texted another salesman, Shon, who was waiting for us on our return. He swore up and down that there was no transmission problem with the vehicle and that if there was they would not sell it. Although very pleasant, Shon, turned out to be a typical salesman. He promised things that never came to being and changed his story as we negotiated the possible sale of the truck. I really wish I would have walked away, but for some stupid reason I did not and we bought the truck. Also for the first time in my life of buying vehicles, especially used vehicles, we bought a warranty. Good thing we did. One week later, I brought the truck to a different dealer and in 2 hours my newly purchased truck with no transmission problems was diagnosed with a transmission AND rear-end problem. The truck was repaired, but still does not seem right . I called Livermore Ford back and voiced by anger, and frustration with the finance manager, service manager , sales manager , and finally the general manager to let them know what occurred and how we were treated. All was to no avail. It seemed no one could care less and they claimed that the sudden mechanical problems must have occurred after purchase because there were no problems when it left their dealership. It is my own fault and I should have run away from Livermore ford when I had the chance adn not given them our money. DO NOT buy from Livermore Ford.
