We recently completed a re-power project with Lou's Marine trading out... read more We recently completed a re-power project with Lou's Marine trading out 2 1996 Johnson Ocean Runner 225's for a single 2018 Suzuki DF 350A 30" Shaft on a 1966 Bertram 25' Moppie. There were unanticipated surprises coming into the project including a 20+ year old aluminum Armstrong Transom Bracket that had deteriorated and needed to be replaced. Of course this contributed to some delays and extra expense, none of which an owner likes to hear about. I am writing this review to express my satisfaction as a result of dealing with quality individuals and an organization which shined through even in the face of adversity. Owners Gary and Tina Pagan along with their team members Daren and Hunter went above and beyond in crafting custom solutions, essentially on the fly, by leveraging many of their local trade contacts while keeping costs and labor for their client front of mind. The result is a very dependable, wide beamed, old and heavy Bertram that will be cruising the waterways with new found spirit and efficiency for many years to come. The old two strokes were thirsty, smoky and noisy to the point of < 1 MPG at 30mph cruise on a good day, top speed of 52 mph depending on the weight of the fuel you were carrying around to feed the beasts. The new 350 Suzuki with 22.5” Pitch Duo Props is quiet continues to have a great hole shot and touts a best cruise of 2.5 MPG at 28 mph and 45 mph top speed. Fuel alone could have justified this re-power years ago but the technology and engineering had to catch up. Based on our experience I would highly recommend you consider Lou’s Marine for your Marine Service and Re-power needs.
