This repair took two weeks after making a deposit on parts. Total cost was over $3500. In driving the vehicle after the repair was complete, a noise appeared which wasn’t there before. After reporting this to the them, I was told it was normal and it would go away. Never having heard of this condition after a differential rebuild, I thought it may be a vehicle specific normality. In contacting the manufacturer of the gear set, it was revealed that this in fact was not normal and the new gear set was destroyed as a result of improper installation. Their management informed me that they were too busy to look at it at the time. After several weeks, I was able to get an appointment to have them check the assembly. The vehicle sat at their shop for 3 weeks before I was able to get anyone from Ace transmission to answer their phone or return a call. I was then informed that they couldn’t fix it and that 26% of the total cost would be refunded. 2 weeks later the vehicle was recovered from their shop still not repaired. This “repair shop” effectively deprived me of my vehicle for the nearly the entire summer, cost me hundreds of dollars in alternate transportation on top of the $3500+ repair bill, and the vehicle still isn’t fixed. I found out too late that I wasn’t by any means the first victim. Someone I randomly met (yes, randomly met) on a job site described a similar issue with Ace transmission. After they get your money, you’re on your own. If you value your money, the safe repair of your vehicle, and your time, don’t go here.

I posted the comment on Sept. 14 about putting a hole in my oil pan. they did put the tiny hole in the pan, just not the way I said. I apologize. the plate that reinforces the drain plug hole is attached by 3 spot welds. if you tighten the plug too hard, it breaks one of the welds and puts a hole in the pan. that is what happened. I have learned that happens to often with japanese cars. you have to use a new gasket EVERY time or it leaks.
