I needed a new timing belt on my old Subaru. I called the expert mechanic at the marina, and the canniest lady with a buck I knew. I asked both where they would take a job like this. They both said "Jerry Hill!" with enthusiasm. So I did, and I've been enthusiastic ever since. Expertise and Honesty aren't always offered (especially to single women) by auto repair shops, but you can find both in abundance here. I love Census Auto Repair. I have been going there for about five years for various auto repairs and have never been dissappointed. One of the reasons I love them is because of their knowledge about vehicles (I have had several that they have serviced),professionalism and they treat me with so much respect. I never feel taken advantage of or overcharged. When I'm asked why I don't take my vehicle (Lexus Nt200) to the dealer, my response is always, why you don't take your vehicle to Census. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Keep up the good work Census! You have a lifetime customer.

The people were very friendly and helpful. I decided not to get some of the work done there as I found much cheaper options elsewhere, but that was my choice and not a problem with Nielson’s. My main frustration is that a day after I had my car looked at there (and had the problems they identified addressed by another cheaper garage), the car failed a safety inspection for three things that did not show up anywhere on their report: parking break not holding, and a front and rear marker light out. Those seem like very easy things to identify, especially the lights, so not sure why they were missed.

The guys replaced my timing belt on my 1997 honda timely manner & very inexpensive compared to other shop quotes!!!!!!

YOU JUDGE: I bring car in for MD inspection to register it. While up on the lift then discover the rear drums and brake cylinders need to be replaced on both sides and they recommend a brake fluid flush. All total they quote me $950.00. I took the vehicle home and did the entire job in 45 mins with $165.00 in parts, WHILE teaching my 14yo how to do it. (He did the second side with my oversight and helped pump the brakes for me.) I return for re-inspection and ask the basis for their estimate. The Owner's reasoning: "We buy better parts than local stores so it costs more." Yeah. Right. My opinion... they tried to rip me off. I've been in the business and their excuse is the standard BS line given by those that lack integrity. Realistically. Say the parts cost TWICE as much... does that mean labor was $253??? for less than an hour's work? Remember, they already had it on the lift, disassembled. So labor would be in changing out the cylinders (15mins each) and grabbing the new drums for reassembly, then bleed the brake line (which is the same as replacing the brake fluid they 'recommended' for $99.00) Again. You be the judge.

Took my truck their, was told id need a new wheel bearing, spindle, and hub. I told them if a stock one would fit I would take it just to get home (I have a dynatrack front end) I was informed the stock wouldn't fit, so I assumed I wouldn't be paying for any parts since they told me "you need to bring us the parts you want". When my bud went up to do the work himself, they charged $300 for the stock parts I was told wouldn't work!! Why did they order parts that didn't fit!! I shouldn't have to pay because they're to incompetent to do a little research before spending $300 of my money!! I have never been so dissatisfied with the customer service as I was with Newburg service center. I know every story is different, but this is typical of a garage taking advantage of an put of town customer who is already in enough of a pickle.
