Ended up needing a new water pump, and he did a fine job with that. Then my car stalled out, and so I sent it up to Calvin at PMC again. He took a whole week to even give me a call, and said he fixed a bad wiring in the harness. The car worked fine for 6 days, and then it stalled out on me again while driving. I called Calvin, and he took NO responsibility for his work and acted like he didn't even want me as a customer. I am definitely taking it somewhere else. He is horrible at expressing his thoughts and plan of action, and he seems so disinterested in the customer. I do not recommend him.

I need a new compressor for my air conditioning system, according to the Honda Dealership where I purchased my 2012 Honda Civic, quoted at $450. I thought Shenandoah Automotive, who I have gone to in the past for oil changes and other repairs, would give a similar quote. They insisted that if I have the compressor replaced I will also need to replace the dryer and expansion valve and that they would then need to recharge the air conditioning, quoting the repair at $1,435. Obviously the dealership would know if I needed those things. Don't let them sell you things you don't need. I cringe to think about the repairs I've had in the past there that were not necessary. On the up side, the people are nice.

Many thanks to all Mr. Dennis (Manager of AAMCO)and all auto repairmen located at located 1134 Emmett North Street Charlottesville VA. My daughter's car wouldn't start on Parent Weekend at the University of Virginia (UVA). The last thing I needed was an unexpected auto repair bill. GEICO towing service recommended AAMCO, my daughter researched the services and read GREAT reviews. The car was tow and dropped over night to AAMCO, with dropped box for keys, safe lighting and parking over the weekend. I called Monday morning spoke with Mr. Dennis, the car was immediately diagnosed, it's the starter. The part was order, started installed and car back on the road within a day. During pickup my daughter's ran out of gas. The AAMCO Manager, Mr. Dennis filled the car to 1/2 gas meter. I called to pay for the gas, I got "NO extra CHARGE" they were glad to help my daughter again. This is TRULY how you are suppose to treat ALL CUSTOMERS, ALL the TIME. Many, many "Thank you" to everyone at AAMCO on 1134 Emmett Street, Charlottesville, VA.... You BLESSED my daughter and I today.

I’ve known many mechanics over 60+ years of driving cars. Since living in Charlottesville for 20 years, I’ve been to a number of independent mechanics as well as the local dealerships. When you have a car under warranty (bumper to bumper) or you just have money to burn, then you can just keep doing what you’re doing. But if you’re on a budget and you want an honest mechanic with real integrity who just wants to charge a fair price for excellent work, I don’t know anyone else in town that fits that bill. There likely is another mechanic like Jimmy (along with his crew), but I haven’t heard of them. I recommend Jimmy to everyone, when the opportunity arises. Not that Jim needs anymore word of mouth marketing. I don’t think there are any downturns in an economy that will effect his business because when times are tough people go to those people they know they can trust. He’s been working on four different vehicles for more than ten years. I trust Jimmy.

Paul Overstreet is passionate and meticulous about his work. I've been taking my Audis (A4 Quattro and A6 Avant) to him as long as I've owned them. Anyone who knows Audis know that they are a blast to own and drive but that repairs can be expensive. Paul is a perfect alternative to a dealership, and does not artificially inflate prices or shop time to increase revenue. And he doesn't suggest or perform needless repairs for the sake of making more on a particular job. Add to all that the fact that he's easy going. It makes the drive from Charlottesville to Gordonsville worthwhile.
