Auto repair service near Newberry, FL

These are the only folks I've trusted my Volkswagen within the last three years or so - my roommate has brought her Honda there for six years. They are honest, reliable, and the only people I feel comfortable trusting my car with. They explain everything very clearly, have great customer service, and are incredibly knowledgable about Volkswagens. I'm writing this after a major engine repair and I'm still thrilled about them. Avoid this shop! Took my car for replacing one engine part. I was told that the part has been replaced and everything is working now. It turns out that part was put in incorrectly and two main bolts were not even installed. Three different auto repair shops looked a the repair and all said that they have never seen such a bad job. This badly put part caused $1,000 damage to two other parts and this repair shop refuses to take responsibility for their shoddy job. Friendly advice, AVOID Auto ER on Archer Road, Gainesville, FL.

I can't say enough good things about Alan at Rogers Tire & Repair. We had a run-in with construction debris that blew out two tires on our new car when we were passing through Alachua. Alan worked some magic and found the (odd size) tires we needed in another city and was able to get us on our way the next day. He kept in touch with us to let us know how things were going the whole time we were there. He even called to make sure the tires were performing to our satisfaction and that we had gotten home safely. Amazing customer service from great mechanics and really good, honest people! Ordered on October 13, 2020 and waited 3 months for an ARE truck topper due to Covid. Turns out an employee says he called and left a message (reviewed Verizon record NO CALL NO MESSAGE) on January 14, 2021. I called the business twice since that date and was told I would have to wait for the call (it was already delivered to their business supposedly January 14.) Did not listen to me or check. For almost a month they failed to do any follow up call. I had to pay for another month storage fee for a trailer because of this. Called twice since January 14 and the owner still failed to check or communicate with his employee. I finally called ARE Customer Service and they said they would check status with an "N" number (topper serial #). I called owner and he said he didn't have an N number and seemed to not know what I was talking about. Suddenly I get an upbeat message on my phone from another employee saying to schedule my install. No apology, no admission that 2 people at this business failed. They had 1000 deposit for 4 months. When I asked for a discount because of this failure they became intractable. Losing trust in their ability to install without further problems I asked for my 1000 back and they said they and A.R.E would charge me my deposit as a restocking fee even though THEY had it in stock for almost a month. I had one choice: pay the money, get it installed. ARE ended up getting involved. Beware if they make a mistake... they did not acknowledge it. BTW I found out the hard way that when they went into my left brake light electric bundle the left break light was not working when driven away from their shop.
