I took my VW Beetle to Tower twice for them to detect the cause and repair a very obvious clatter. Both times they failed until ultimately it was revealed that the pistons and valves were butting heads and when they finally clashed, the top half of my engine was destroyed. When I recognized their incompetence and had my car towed to a VW repairman, the repair bill for that catastrophic failure was about $5,500. This could've been avoided had Tower known what they were dealing with. I would not allow Tower to work on another vehicle, come hell or high water.

I dropped my car off last week to get a tune up and oil changed. My experience was very pleasant! All the mechanics were gentlemen and when I asked questions about my car they answered in simple detail so I could better understand (know nothing about anything about cars). My wait for my car to finish was not long at all! I left to do some things in town and they were done before I got done! I will be taking my car to them every time and I highly recommend them.

I don't know how they do it, but Mitch and his guys are good, cheap, and fast. My 2006 GMC truck would give me all kinds of fits when I drove it. It would run great, then die, then barely run, then be great again... It was really frustrating! My local shop said it could be several possibilities, but wanted to start by doing a tune-up and go from there. I wasn't impressed with their guesses; I wanted a solution. I went online looking for a better deal. I found Shaw Auto Service and gave them a call. I told the guy on the phone what was up and he was honest about it - he said he didn't know, but they would figure it out. Keith came out later that day, did about an hour of testing, and told me I needed a fuel pump - guaranteed to fix my problem, he said. Well, when he got to the fuel pump he found a bad wire and fixed it. I got to take the $250 pump back to the store, just paid for his time, and haven't had any problems since. Just awesome!

Young Harris TRUCK Sales

I rated ONE star ONLY because there was not a way to circle in NO stars. We purchased a 2005 Volvo S60 2.5T a couple of years ago from Mr. Leif RosenQvist at Young Harris Truck Sales. We paid about a $1,000 too much for the car to begin with, however, I blame myself for that as I failed to take the time to research properly before purchasing. Had the car for a couple of months and little things began "shorting-out." Come to find out, it appeared the majority of the wiring under the hood had all been "rigged" with old tape that was wearing off fast. Ends of wires were exposed, wires and hoses left dangling, not hooked up to anything. We began addressing these things - and to make a long story short, I had NO check engine light come on, temp. gauges never displayed any type of overheating, regular full-synthetic oil changes and fluids kept filled within the car, when BOOM! out of nowhere and with complete surprise, coming home from Wal-Mart at NIGHT, my Volvo spit, sputtered, and died on me. My dad stopped in and spoke with Leif and he said he'd price some motors and call when he was able to locate one. He called and my mother and I went in paying him $1,000 down on the total charges, per Leif, of $2,001.?? Again, per Leif, this total was for the motor, a new timing belt, a new water pump, a possible thermostat, tune-up with fluids and his labor. My car sat at his shop for ONE month! My dad had stopped by the shop twice, I think to check the progress and We called him, maybe twice - total, regarding the completion date. I was having to rent cars and that is not cheap! Leif seemed to be "put out" by our concern for my car. He finally "finished" and called us. My parents picked up the car, as I was working at that specific time. I clocked out shortly after that and ran out to see my car, got in, fired her up and began down the road only to find my car spitting and sputtering, acting as if it were going to stall at any given moment. Reviewing under the hood, I noticed the timing belt and water pump were NOT new, therefore they had NOT been replaced. Mind you, Mr. Leif specifically stated the timing belt had been $200! The spark plugs were disgusting and in fact, cylinder #5 was completely filled with oil, drowning the plug. We took out all plugs, Shop Vac'd the oil out of that area, replaced with new plugs and oh, yeah, this occurred because the crankcase breather hose was never hooked back up. I had JUST purchased several new parts and pieces on my original motor, which Mr. Leif kept, not putting those new parts and plugs onto this other motor for me. In fact, we took the car back in to Leif and confronted him about the timing belt and water pump. As he worked on an old Volvo that's been there forever with parts he's mysteriously acquired, he throws his hands up and says, "I'm not a liar." The proof is in the pudding, I've always been told, therefore, we showed him that we know where those parts are and that we know they are not new. I even had a manager of the Auto Parts Store here locally tell me the timing belt was not new. Leif wrote us a check for that $200 for the timing belt that he "didn't lie about," but you know - the one he didn't replace. So, I've paid for a water pump I didn't get, old spark plugs, old everything - and labor for a car that was clearly not fixed properly. I live paycheck to paycheck and $2,000 is an awful lot of money to be shelling out for my car to still need a mechanic's touch (more like make-over). Leif told me that the guy who is working with him accidentally threw away my old motor so that's why I couldn't have my parts off it. I've accidentally thrown away pens, glasses, keys .... but how in the world do you accidentally throw away an entire MOTOR?! I've had the car back for one week now and already put another $300 into it and I still can't get more than $700 for it as a trade-in on a car that actually runs! My advice is BUYER BEWARE! There are plenty of reputable car lots and properly trained ASE Certified Mechanics and I would advise you to go to one of them and NOT Young Harris Truck Sales in Young Harris, GA.

Let me first say that the people are very friendly until a problem arises. I bought an SUV from them 8 months ago. I needed a vehicle to drive back and forth to work and was safe for my children, as I didn't have a vehicle. I clearly stated this when talking to them in which they sold me this vehicle. I had my down payment money plus taxes in hand. The next business day I had to bring it back, I told them something was not right it was jumping and you couldnt keep it on the road after it had been cranked for around 30 minutes and it was roaring. Freddie was who I spoke to and I handed him the keys. He proceeded to tell me he drove the car from South Carolina with no problems and nothing was wrong with it. They took it to their mechanic and the hubs were bad and a few other things. I got it back and the steering wheel was sitting vertical instead of horizontal where the mechanic had done work with the tires and never aligned it. So I told them this and they had it aligned. I continued to have problems as the real issue was never resolved as to why it was jumping. It was throwing some codes so I had this checked out and was told it had timing issues and the transfer case module was bad along with some other sensors. I brought it back to them and they again brought it to another mechanic. He proceeded to do all kinds of work and sent them the bill. I called the mechanic and asked Him if he had drove the car and it was fixed. He told me he had been driving the car and that everything was fixed worked like a dream. I drove it not even a mile from his shop to the car lot and it was jumping all over the place! I told the owner of the dealership to drive it and he didnt know what was wrong and told me he was going to bring it back to the mechanic himself in the morning. He was upset that they had charged him close to $2000 + $500 for the first time it went to the mechanic. Needless to say I got the car back and now it has no power, It roars when you try to do 30 MPH and I cant drive it. I went to talk to them about just bringing it back, and they got hot headed and started telling me that every car that was brought back was making it harder for them to retire. I am thinking WAIT A MINUTE... I pay you $109 every week without fail for a vehicle that I have had problems with since the day I bought it, cant get my children to school in or myself to work in...You have not offered me another vehicle or to make it right when your mechanics cant fix the problem and YOU PLAY THE VICTIM and act like its MY FAULT you cant retire. Or that you paid the mechanic bills. YOU should have had all the problems resolved BEFORE SELLING THE VEHICLE and it wouldnt be coming back to you. Its not my fault that you sold me a vehicle that didnt run. I paid my hard earned money of $1500 + $109 weekly payments for the last 8 months and all I expect in return was a GOOD RUNNING CAR. Before you buy a car from this car lot have it inspected by someone you trust because once the papers are signed they no longer care!
