Lesters Transmission Service

1.0(2)
76 Beauty Shop Road, Lambsburg

I was on a trip to Florida from Ohio. Noticed some smoke coming from the car so I stopped at the gas station up the hill. I was suggested to Lesters, so I rolled the car down the hill. I was driving a car not worth more than 1200 dollars or so. Some kid working there said "yeah go ahead and pull it in and ill take a quick look." I pulled the car in and he proceeded to tell me I needed all new brakes, and hardware. I asked for an estimate and wasnt given one. They took the car for a quick drive down the road and came back smoking horribly. As he pulled it back up the driveway, transmission fluid was leaking heavily from underneath. We knew the transmission needed repaired/replaced at that point. Lesters offered us a ride to the hotel 10 minutes away. We took them up on their offer since we had nothing else at this point and it was after all rental places were closed. I tipped the driver $10 for bringing us up the hill. I had to insist on the driver taking the tip. We decided it wasnt worth replacing the transmission since the car is only worth about $1200. We called Lesters and told them. They offered us $150 for the car... HA! We called a local junkyard and they offered us about $430 for scrap! Way better than Lesters offer. I called Lesters back and asked them if they could tow the car up the road to the scrap yard. They said sure.... for $75!!! I said no, the car is already at your shop you dont have to drive to go get it, it shouldnt be that much. So I called another tow company that agreed to go get the car from Lesters pick the car up and take it to the junkyard for $50. I called Lesters back to let them know and they told me they wont release the car since we didnt pay them for their 10 minute "quick look" service or for dropping us off at the hotel!!! WHAT!?!?! I gave their driver a tip that I forced him to take, I was at their shop for 4 hours and not once did they say they were charging me for anything or hand me an invoice or bill or anything, but now that

Eddies Garage

1.0(1)
1575 Henry Road, Ferrum

I watched last night as Eddie's Garage towed 5 vehicles from the 77 restaurant (a building very vaguely marked on the side of the building with a no parking sign). When asked to explain, Eddie cussed us and got out of his truck and tried to start a fight. Police were called to resolve the matter. My advice; call Earl Akers at Franklin Tire Distributors for any services needed. The employees are friendlier and more honest.

Bassett Radiator Ac Heaters

1.0(2)
5003 Kings Mountain Road, Collinsville

This company is a complete RIP off. I took a radiator to them for repair. A day later the owner of the business referred to as 'Junebug' called me about some else radiator telling it was off a 50 year old car and not worth repairing. I explained that this was not my radiator then he proceeded to say he cleaned and pressure tested my radiator and that he could not find a leak even after running pressure tests from 3 psi to 16 psi. He further explained that he could install a new core if I like for $400. Then later that day he had someone else to call me with a $650 price. I drove from Roanoke to his shop to drop off my radiator which according to the automotive repair shop that the green dried up chemicals near the top tank was the result of previous leaking. I advised Bassett Radiator Shop that I planned to drive back to pick up my radiator. Once I arrived, the owner was not there but left a $60 bill. I paid the bill and traveled an additional 20 miles to a radiator shop in Eden, NC. They immediately inspected my radiator and advised me that my radiator had not been cleaned or pressure tested so I was completely ripped off by Bassett Radiator Shop in Collinsville, VA. The Eden, NC radiation shop detected the leak and quoted a price of $450 to replace the core. This was a good price because the radiator belong to my 1985 Rolls Royce and this price is less than half of getting a rebuilt radiator from the dealer as a new radiator was no longer available. I do not recommend doing business with Bassette. First they are un professional, disorganized and a RIP off shop ran by a fly by night old incompetents who only accept cash as payment so that they can RIP customers off without any recourse. M. C.
