The lifestyle of being a mechanic is typically not an easy one. Long hours, below average pay and physically demanding labor can take its toll on those choosing to enter into the profession and that's before you add in the stress of dealing with customers and staying up to date on technology in a seemingly ever-evolving industry.

A recent article on Monster.com indicated that "mechanic" was one of the Top 5 Most Regretted Jobs. Some key points from the article:

1) 43% of mechanics say they regret their job choice.

2) The average pay for a mechanic is $36,100.

3) The equipment for the job (tools) can be very expensive.

4) There is not much room for advancement.

We deal with many talented and happy mechanics who enjoy their job and take great pride in what they do, but it's important to remember that the job they have isn't easy.

So the next time you notice your mechanic looks like he's having a tough day, please consider everything they need to deal with on a regular basis.
