Had a rear door lock fluttering issue. Basically it went up-and-down without me doing anything. Brought car into Holland and his team of professionals diagnosed the issue and replaced the door-lock actuator and it fixed the issue. They were pleasant to deal with and also had a great Customer Waiting Room to use equipped with wi-fi. Thanks to Dick, Carl, and Tony for their work. Bravo

They always tell you exact ally what is wrong with your automobile, and you can believe that is the truth. They stand behind their work. They are respectful, attentive and courteous. At the end of January 2013, my wife and I went to Livermore Ford to look at an 2002 Explorer that was advertised. When we got there, the vehicle was still in the rear of the dealership and filthy dirty beyond all belief both inside and out. It was obviously the truck was not ready to be shown so I'm not sure why it was listed. Anyway we test drove the truck after a very quick wash and immediately noticed some strange sounds and shifting issues. Ben, the salesman with us, heard us and texted another salesman, Shon, who was waiting for us on our return. He swore up and down that there was no transmission problem with the vehicle and that if there was they would not sell it. Although very pleasant, Shon, turned out to be a typical salesman. He promised things that never came to being and changed his story as we negotiated the possible sale of the truck. I really wish I would have walked away, but for some stupid reason I did not and we bought the truck. Also for the first time in my life of buying vehicles, especially used vehicles, we bought a warranty. Good thing we did. One week later, I brought the truck to a different dealer and in 2 hours my newly purchased truck with no transmission problems was diagnosed with a transmission AND rear-end problem. The truck was repaired, but still does not seem right . I called Livermore Ford back and voiced by anger, and frustration with the finance manager, service manager , sales manager , and finally the general manager to let them know what occurred and how we were treated. All was to no avail. It seemed no one could care less and they claimed that the sudden mechanical problems must have occurred after purchase because there were no problems when it left their dealership. It is my own fault and I should have run away from Livermore ford when I had the chance adn not given them our money. DO NOT buy from Livermore Ford. My family & I have been going to California Auto Center for our car repairs for years. We also refer our friends & co-workers. We love their honesty - they only tell you things that you really need to fix. They explain very well on what the work/job/repair is. You also get a lot of good advises from them regards to car maintenance, car selections, smog check station, body shop, etc. Price is reasonable. Turn around time is as promised, and if urgent, they try to accommodate as much as they can. I still remember one time my car refused to start - I was in Campbell, and AAA does not even cover that long distance of a tow - Andrew called his regular tow truck company and towed it back to his shop for a very inexpensive fee. In addition, it happened after work hours, and Andrew spent his off hours to assist/rescue. You do not get this kind of good service at other places - but here.

Sunset Garage deserves more stars than 5. I have fired so many mechanics in my life, and it must have been because I was waiting to find Georges and his crew. I have been using them for well over ten years and am one of their biggest fans. I ALWAYS recommend them anytime somebody brings up an auto issue. Wow! I never thought in my wildest dream I could find an honest, experienced, and affordable mechanic to work on my car, but I did. Thanks, Jay! My son's car was leaking coolant and I knew that was an issue that had to be addressed immediately. I called several mechanics in Richmond, CA who asked for $95 just to diagnose the car. I stumbled upon Jay on the internet by random luck and I called him. He told me he could come out to my place and inspect the car, but because I live at the University Village he could not work on the car (due to restrictions imposed by the university). However, he said to bring the car to his place and that he would check it and, if possible, fix it that same day. Drove to El Sobrante, met Jay, and in 5 minutes he confirmed what he had already suspected on the phone, the radiator was cracked and leaking. He quoted me the price for the radiator and labor, and to my surprise, it was not an exuberant amount. As a UC Berkeley student I am on a limited budget, but what he had quoted me was manageable. Dropped the car off at 12:30 pm and it was fixed by 3:30 pm. Additionally, he gave me a 30 warranty on the labor and, of course, a 1-year warranty on the radiator. So, if you are a Cal student in need of repair work on your car Jay is your man.

Bob's saved us today: it was a Friday afternoon, the car started doing something wonky (chugging), and they were still open. We called in, dropped by, and were on our way in less than an hour: Bob's replaced the very part that was causing the problem, with their customary smile. These guys are incredibly generous with their time, especially for recurring customers like us, the loyal Volvo types that are willing to endure trips to the service center for the safety and drivability of these great cars. Best Volvo place in Berkeley!

Had my 1999 9-5 Saab radio remarried at this place. They did it quickly and charged a fraction of what others would have. The manager and workers were friendly and knowledgeable. Will be coming back here to get my next big repair done.

My Mercedes 2003 c240. The whole front end was busted. Conrtol arms, bushings, etc. I took it in, and the work was fantastic! My car came back clean, and running smooth! I'll be back for my shocks and hoses my car needs. I'm super happy with the service! Happy I found someone I can trust, and knows my Mercedes. YAY!

I took in my 2007 Nissan Murano because the dealership said I had both exhaust manifolds cracked and leaking. Niki and his team discovered that I really only needed one replaced and the other would be fine for a few more years. This saved me a lot of money and I never would have known the difference! I appreciate the honesty. The other thing to mention was that they ran into some issues with the replacement because the old one was so beat up. Niki said it would take another day to complete, but I was going out of town with my family. He and one of his mechanics worked extra hard and got it done in time. Very good service! -Patrick Naylon
