My wife’s expedition blew a heater hose while at Coffee Bean with steam coming out from under the hood she drove next door to American Tire. The guys “T” as in Mr. T was very helpful, even assisting her a tow to the dealer through AAA (garages don’t typically assist you going elsewhere, but they were helpful). Upon arriving to assess the problem I realized the “new” heater hoses are not hoses at all but rather multisegment manifolds. I felt comfortable with everything explained, they confirmed that the parts were available and it would be done by the end of day and it was. Very happy with the service and how we were treated. 5 star all the way!

Angel told me I needed brakes on my Vehicle, even know his shop had just replaced them 6 months prior. I just replaced them 12 months later and 30,000 Miles later. This guy doesn't know anything about cars, just how to rip people off to boost his weekly numbers. I was a regular customer for at least 7 years, but not anymore. Goodbye Meineke.

I purchased a 2003 Mini Cooper from Orange Empire on 7-2006. After a couple of months, the car started acting up at 50-55 mph, it hesitated. I took it to a shop and they couldn’t find the problem. If you’re a Mini Cooper owner, you will understand where I’m coming from. Not any shop can diagnose these vehicles. I kept driving the car, but the problem persisted and I took it back to Orange Empire on the 7th month owning this vehicle. They kept the car for 2 days. They took it to Mini dealership to have it checked. When I got it back, the car was magically running fine again. I drove it without problems for almost a year and then the problem came back. I took it to a nearby shop. They stated that the transmission was the problem. Since then, I have goggled and researched a lot of about this problem. Dealers can get away by flushing, changing the oil and resetting the transmission. I called the dealer again and they refused to do anything about. Their favorite phrase is, you bought it “as-is” and suggested that next time I buy an extended warranty on a used vehicle. They sold me a car that had a bad transmission and they know it, they just don’t like to repair used cars they buy for retail. Instead they make them look presentable for purchase and screw buyers over. Check out their BBB complaints, they always have a comeback for every situation. I put in all my savings into this purchase and got ripped off. No one deserves this, no one! I would have NOT purchase 25k vehicle with a bad transmission. No one in their right mind would. We “consumers” trust that vendors will be honest and sell us decent vehicles. This vehicle was not inspected at all and of course I am no mechanic and couldn’t have possibly known that all this needed to be replaced. The car needs a new transmission, front/rear struts, power steering suction and return hose, marker light bulb and the replacement of the upper engine torque mount. I should have had warned others buyers earlier t

I am new to the area so I relied on Yelp and Google ratings to help me find Hank's Tire. It's an "old school" place - been in business since the 50's and it is second generation family owned - a gem of a find. They educated me, didn't pressure me and made me and my car much happier. Thank you guys!

Pep Boys

You should know a few things about Pep Boys right off the bat. First, they charge about the same as many dealer mechanics. So, you should basically just take the car to the dealer or an upmarket independent who has more reason to care about your car. In addition, you will wait an awful lot for service with such a markup. Again, if one pays a premium, one expects a certain amount of service. The last thing you should know is that they seem to lack an enforced policy with regard to their work. If you walk in, you are just dealing with Mike, and if Mike does not feel like giving you a refund, that is that. My story is that I took my Buick in to have it checked out since I was going to drive it across country. They charged me $485 for a belt and two radiator hoses. This is somewhat of a premium price and I will discuss that is just a minute. I got my car and drove it for a few days (it was repaired on 6/5/2014). The radiator then blew out in Jackson Hole Wyoming (on 6/13/2014). This is pretty far from where I live and it really created a lot of problems for me. The fluid it leaked was green. It turns out that they put regular pro-line coolant and not Dex-Cool as the manufacturer recommends. This is documented in the receipt and I saw it with my own eyes. Did this cause my blow out? It’s hard to say, but if a surgeon leaves a surgical sponge in the patient and they get sepsis, it’s likely they will blame the surgeon. When I brought my receipts and material to Mike Zdralek the service manager, his opinion was that I needed to prove it was their fault. The funny thing was I was extremely polite and was trying not to point any fingers. Even a simple apology would have been nice. Now I’m out $485 for the repairs which had absolutely no effect in preventing what they were intended to do. I brought the car in to prevent a radiator blow out, and they did the job wrong and it blew out … in the middle of nowhere. The extra repair cost me $471 (plus $200 to have the part driven in from Idaho Falls). So I’m out over a thousand dollars now with nothing to show for it. The interesting thing to note is that a whole new radiator at a standard mechanic costs the same as two hoses and a belt from Pep Boys. This gives you an idea of the markup they charge on work. In the future, I will not bring any business to Pep Boys. I hope that the %20 margin they made was worth it. That’s the last they will see of me and the last dollar I will spend with their store.
