I left my 2001 Honda Rebel @ Honda of Santa Barbara to have new brake pads installed and the brake fluid changed. Rec'd a $60 bill for new brake pads and labor which I paid the same day when I picked the bike up. A few months later, the 'new" brake pads were down to bare metal. Reason: Jack, the mechanic, had not replaced the brake pads tho he had charged me. A different mechanic at Honda of Santa Barbara, installed new pads and then tried to charge me for parts and labor. I produced the very recent, paid bill which ended that duplicity in a hurry. Other services performed over the past two years there were/are iffy at best. Most repairs had to be redone, either there or at another shop. It's a waste of time and money to go there, not to mention the very real safety concerns: no brakes, failure to properly torque nuts and bolts, failure to use Loctite when appropriate, failure to reconnect speedometer cable, ditto for electrical connections. The list is endless. STAY AWAY!!!!

I bought a new scooter from them that turned out to be a lemon. After 6 repair attempts they were unable to work with the manufacturer to secure a replacement and unwilling to consider an exchange or trade in. When I complained the manager told me I should be grateful that they provided free towing and had not refused me service. In the end I had to retain an attorney to negotiate a repurchase agreement with the manufacturer. All this happened while the bike was under warranty. Ootys was 100% willing to milk the repairs until the warranty expired and stick me with a $4K loss. Basically their attitude was that it wasn’t their problem. Don't go there -- they obviously don't value their customers and don't deserve the business.
