Headlights would sporadically just go out. Not good. Mechanic tested everything and found the problem. He replaced a defective part that is known to malfunction in the make and model of my vehicle. Everything is now fine. Once again, Edison Auto has not just met, but exceeded my expectations and at a fair and reasonable price. They never try to push unnecessary repairs. I've used Coastland Automotive to mechanically service my 2001 Porsche 911 for a few years. I'm happy to report they are knowledgeable, prompt, courteous and price competitive. The waiting room, which I use for each visit, is clean, comfortable and welcoming. They get a two thumbs up from my discerning point of view. You should give them a try without hesitation. This is the place to take your vehicle. Really. I had no idea where to go when my BMW's computers shut down several weeks ago, other than the costly service dept at the BMW dealer. The alternator and battery, which ended up being the root cause, also gave up the ghost at the same time. As did the coolant reservoir. Most everything is packed into the engine compartment and takes many hours to diagnose, remove, and replace. Not to mention the cost of the parts. I received open ended estimates from the BMW dealer in Fort Myers as well as an independent shop. It was pretty bleak and little hope was offered regarding the health of the computer system in the car. The projected repair costs were in the multi thousands. A neighbor suggested I call Kellyn at Karr Automotive. I did and he spent quality time with me listening to the problems. Along with the computer shutting down and dead battery, I mentioned that there was also a loud rattling and that the car has seemed sluggish since I purchased (the just out of warranty) car several years ago. No shops had been able to figure that out and I just lived with bad performance. I mentioned that the dealer suggested the main computer and specialized software were the problem, and needed other expensive diagnostic testing. Kellyn didn't think so and said to bring it in and he'd figure the situation out. I had it flatbedded to Karr Automotive the next day. Surprisingly Kellyn had researched all the issues before I got there and went right to work on the car. When I picked it up a few days later I was amazed at how well the car ran! No more rattle, no more sluggishness. It was like a new car and fun to drive! He'd also ended up replacing the water pump and found failed seals in the crankcase vent valves. The internal pressure in the engine was compounding on itself and causing the sluggishness. Wow, what difference! And the bill? It was about 5 times less expensive than I'd been quoted from the BMW dealer. And they didn't even know about the other items he found and fixed. And it certainly didn't need a new computer or software as had been promoted by the dealer. After I picked it up, I drove it to the Keys the next day. It ran like a top! Love it again! This has been long winded, but I really wanted to speak to the thoroughness of Karr Automotive's attention to my car and how they researched the entire group of problems and fixed the issues completely. Any mechanic can put in a water pump or plug in a new computer unit. Kellyn put in the extra effort to solve the issue as a whole, rather than piece by piece. Lastly, people are often deceived by auto mechanics pretending to listen and who then hand them a large bill surprise at pickup time. You will find Karr Automotive an honest, respectful, and attentive repair facility for any type of vehicle. 5 stars in my book for sure.

Wayne is awesome!!! He did such an amazing job with our car. Our alternator went out and we could not figure out the issue. Called Wayne, and did a thorough research....save us THOUSANDS! I thought my 2003 Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0 CVT was having transmission issues - as it would shake and vibrate at low speed. The early Audi CVT transmissions are notoriously bad and I figured mine was shot. I called VAP and spoke to the owner, Mark, on the phone and described my issue. He told me to bring the car in. He to,d me right up front that if it was tge transmission, they are hard to find and costly to rebuold, about $ 4000.00. From my research on the internet, this price was spit on. We left the car there in April of 2015 and returned to our home up north. A week later Marl called and said that the transmission was fine, the engine eas misfiring on 3 cylinders, and that he had fixed the problem. The bill - $600.00. While he had the car I had them replace tge timing belt and water pump as well as the transmission fluid, all reccommended maintainence by Audi at 100,000 miles - which was where my car was at, as well as an oil change. The total bill came to $2800.00. I was very pleased. The car runs great. Last week we were down and the check engine light came on. I called Mark and he to,d me to bring the car in and he would check it for me. He hooked it up to the computer as soon as we arrived and said it was a nothing to be concerned about and he reset the onboard computer. There was no charge. This is an honest shop run by very nice people. I will never take my car anywhere else.

Coastland has greatly helped me out as a young car owner. They do all my routine maintenance work (the wait time for an oil change is next to nothing from what I used to wait when I took my car to the dealership) and even fixed the clip on my fender for free the same day I noticed it was hanging from beneath my car. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they all jumped to help me understand what was needed to be done to maintain my car and helped me decide how to break up the list in the most affordable way. Honest, straightforward, reliable, helpful... what's not to like? In fact, that's a lot to like! I was initially referred there by a knowledgeable friend, so this should count as two positive reviews. Always a positive experience for me.

I think these guys take advantage of women for sure, maybe others as well. My ex took her car here on several occasions to have work done. First it was because of the battery. They told her it was an alternator problem and replaced it. Later she drove to the east coast and still same issue, so a mechanic here replaced the battery, which on this car is a chore. Still having issues when she returned to them, they told her the harmonic balance was bad, and that's why it wasn't charging properly. But still no refund for the not bad alternator. As a former mechanic and an ASE certified one for over 20 years, I can tell you, the alternator and the harmonic balance were both OK. So next trip they say she needs all new brakes rotors, pads, calipers, the works. Now being female when they say things like, "you wont be able to stop or your wheel is going to fall off", she buys it. So this time she had a noise and took it back, they said she needed all new ball joints upper and lower both sides in the front. So I got on the phone with Matt, I can tell you they have no idea what there talking about, stumbling over his diagnosis and telling me it needs them, said if nothing else needs an front wheel alignment. Anybody who knows cars knows you cant align the front if the ball joints are bad. Now keep in mind this car, for a 1999 only has 48000 miles on it. So I had her take it to somebody else, two places in fact. The noise ended up being a piece of plastic wheel well the most likely bent when doing the brake job. The ball joints are fine and do not need replacing. It's sad that shops like this one can stay in business doing people like this. I also have a recorded conversation with the mechanic that he stated if she didn't replace the ball joints her wheel was going to fall off. So no disputing that they said that. Bottom line stay away from these people!!! Read Reviews on yelp and google this shop is no good. save yourself a headache.
