Parts ordered
Went to south street auto salvage to get some parts for a car im restoring, got the parts i needed and inquired about a grille for the vehicle. They found one at a different salvage yard in lansing and told me it could be here monday (it was thursday afternoon when ordered), i asked how much? Was told $40. So i bought the part plus the grille in which they didnt have tehe change to break a $50, so they owed me money was written on the reciept. By wednesday the following week went by, i hadent heard anything, so i stopped up there. Nobody had seen the part come in so they called Golden's shop to see if it went there (ges the owner of both shops), it didnt arrive there either. So they asked me to wait a few days while the found the part. Friday came, still no word, they "shops" had no idea where the part went. The associate who i had been dealing with the entire time called the owner at that point, they were on the phone for awhile and then came back. The associate told me since i had been jerked around they were ordering me the part new. I mentioned that no, i didnt want to pay the difference which is why i was at the salvage yard, in which i was told i am not paying the difference, that id be getting it for what i already paid. So i said fine, the part was ordered and showed up the following monday at Golden's shop. I went to go pick it up and they refused to give me the part unless i pay the difference. So i explained the story to the person at Golden's shop, they called the owner and he denied the story "which i was right there and heard the two talk on the phone the previous friday". So i wanted my money bac, since i was being dicked around yet again and they yold me no! I get no money back, i get credit twards something only. This upset me more because as i mentioned in the beginning they couldnlt break a $50 and owed me change back, it was written on the receipt and signed by the employee.

Bump and Paint
I've been to Golden's shop three times for bumping and painting. Each time I received quality repairs at reasonable prices. I would recommend his shop to anyone.

car purchased
I HAVE READ MOST OF YOUR REVIEWS AND CANT UNDERSTAND HOW SOMEONE COULD POST SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE ELSE SAID ABOUT A BUSINESS WITHOUT HAVING A TRUE EXPERIENCE THEMSELVES. IF I WERE ANYONE RELATED TO BODY WORKS OR GOLDEN GIBSON I WOULD SUE THE HELL OUT OF THESE INDIVIDUALS MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS LIKE THOSE AND WHICH YOU YOURSELF ALLOWED TO BE POSTED.MY FAMILY HAS PURCHASED VEHICLES FROM BODY WORKS FOR YEARS.ACTUALLY,WE HAVE PURCHASED SIX IN THE LAST FEW YEARS.THREE WERE PURCHASED FOR MY CHILDREN WHO ARE NOW AT MSU AND WESTERN MICH.AND GUESS WHAT THESE CARS ARE STILL RUNNING. GIVE THE MAN HIS PROPER CREDIT.JACKSON IS FULL OF PEOPLE WHO ARE BLINDED BY NEGATIVE EYESIGHTS. DONT JOIN THAT GROUP....IF YOU NEED A CAR SEE GOLDEN AT BODY WORKS.TELL HIM MR.AND MRS ELDER REFERRED YOU.A GREATER JACKSON COMES FROM A POSITIVE PROSPECTIVE

Golden Gibson
My mechanic said that Golden Gibson "is a scam artist", who "owns a junk yard" and "can paint up a piece of dirt to look like a car."He sells cars that have been totaled for below blue-book value which will break down within the week. The car he tried to sell me had a bumper that was duck taped on. My mechanic had half a dozen stories of lemons that costumers had brought in from golden. Transmissions had gone, engines had caught on fire, in one case the back axle popped off of a car and the owner was hospitalized.

I went to this business to purchase a vehicle. When i went there the owner said that i couldn't drive the vehicle very far, something to do with the license plate. Anyways the engine sounded funny so i said i couldn't purchase the vehicle until a mechanic looked at it. He was very shady about the situation saying he could have it looked at by a mechanic for me. He ended up talking me in to putting 400dollars down to save the car until a mechanic looked at it. I did have him write me a receipt stating that if i wasn't satisfied i could have my 400 returned to me. The next day i called around for mechanics and two different ones said that he was not a good business man and that he was known for it in the area. I then called him and told him what they said and he was instantly rude to me. After him being rude to me for no reason i told him that i wasn't satisfied and would like my money returned to me. He then told me that he was not going to return my money and wanted the rest of the money for the vehicle. I was completely blown away by this. I'm a pregnant 21 year old mother and your taking my money?!?! At first i was not going to just believe what the mechanics said but now he has proved to be a bad business man.
