I was quoted 600+ dollars to replace the switch. I thought this to be a bit "over the top" price as the national average repair price ranges from 300 to 500 dollars. Well it just happen to have been a Monday before Christmas eve and I needed to have the car back ASAP. Being the week of Christmas they were the only shop near by- that had time to take a look at my car and because the ignition key would no longer fit or turn - I had no choice to have it towed there. The honesty and integrity of this shop is called into serious question. I needed the car back ASAP so I gave the go ahead to replace the ignition switch. When the car was ready to be picked up- the price jumped to $870 and is too often the case excuses were made. The "car needed to be reprogrammed" after the installation of the new switch. Labor I was told was 1.5 hours. 1.5 hours of labor plus reprogramming=$870? I do not think so. . I am not a car mechanic but I have worked many years as maintenance technician so I am both technically and mechanically inclined. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO GRADYS AUTO AS THE PRICES ARE MORE OFTEN- than not very UNREASONABLE ALONG WITH WE ARE DOING YOU A "FAVOR" TYPE OF ATTITUDE FROM THERE MECHANICS.

When I searched the BBB webpage, they did not come up as a listed member. I had a lengthy conversation with the owner of the dealership and he apologized and told me this was a very rare occurrences. He told me the incident was isolated and I believe him. Although the incident did occur, he states he will talk to those involved to make sure it never happens again.

I was told by the service advisor Dave Dunning that he could not locate the needed part and that he would not be able to get it for 2-3 months. I contacted Saab corporate and they were able to locate the part and had it shipped to the West Allis dealership. Corporate also contacted Dave to investigate and to make sure the repair could be completed. I was quoted the repair would be under $400 installed and that the part itself was around $100.00. Corporate also confirmed this estimate and I agreed to have Metropolitan Motors make the repair. I never heard back from the dealership and when I called I was told by Dave my car was ready. It would have been nice to know that the car was ready hours earlier. I picked up the car and the invoice was more than double the original quote made by Dave. I questioned Dave and he told me that if I would not have “wined” to corporate, my bill would have been “more inline”. I spoke with the owner of the dealership and he agreed to take a look at the bill. When he was doing this Dave approached me and stated that I was lying about the quote and expressed how he went out of his way to help me. Dave provided me no assistance and his overall approach to customer service is extremely low. If I would not have stepped in to locate the part, my car would still be sitting in the parking lot. The owner looked over the bill and in fact, Dave up charged me for service that was not performed and the bill was corrected to $430 so I was satisfied with the price and paid accordingly. Yes, I might buy a car from Metropolitan Motors. No, I would not recommend having it serviced there. In my opinion, Dave has no business putting his face on customer service. Metropolitan Motors in NOT a member of the Better Business Bureau, likely for a reason.
