Volvo Master Mechanic Dave Scholl You will not find a more skilled, knowledgeable, fair and reasonably-priced Volvo master mechanic in Santa Barbara. I met Dave in 1988 at Oswald’s Volvo Repair, where he was the tall blond Scandivnavian towering over the other mechanics; I always asked and waited for him to be available to work on my first Volvo, a 240GL. Since then I have owned four more Volvos and still own three, a V70, S60 and C70 that he regularly services at his repair shop with the help of his wonderful wife, Terry. Dave may be terse and businesslike, while Terry is very approachable and friendly. When it was time to let an older Volvo go to a new owner, the first two sold immediately since they were in good shape and had all of Dave’s records confirming regular maintenance. The buyers were amazed that all components worked as a result of Dave’s attention to detail. I especially appreciate Dave’s detective skills in instances where extra effort is needed to identify the actual problem and fix it, without wasting time and money on unnecessary parts and work. Dave will only recommend fixing items in need of repair, following the truism, “If it isn’t broke, no need to fix it.” His estimates are accurate. He is honest, conscientious and consistently demonstrates refreshing integrity. There’s no need to go anywhere else to keep your Volvo in safe working condition. Worst service ever. Canceled several times, costing us money each time. Then the guy didn't know how to operate the crane had to call people. Didn't even know how to turn it on. Complained the whole time and made the client uncomfortable. Then didn't deliver and took the product he was transporting. Hung up on me when I asked him questions and said the owner said he couldn't deliver them. Wouldn't answer my calls. Called their office. They didn't know anything about it. Also Glen, the owner didn't know either. Worried he was stealing our product, since he was lying about talking to the owner I went to their yard. First thing he does is threaten me, then threaten to destroy our product and leave it in the street for someone else to take. Had to get the police involved so he wouldn't bash it with a fork lift and had to park my truck in between him and the fork lift. I had to have the police come and had to intervene as no one in the office knew what was going on and the guy he claimed was the owner, was not the owner, just a coworker. When they came to deliver it, again they spent more time between 2 people trying to figure out how to work the crane and had to call someone in Arkansas to help them. Took hours when it should of taken minutes. And another cost to me having to be home a 5th day for no reason. Never got an apology from the owner and I can't recommend them. How do 2 people work at a crane company and not know how to run it between the 2 of them? Then they threatened to file a lien without sending me an invoice. Worst experience I've ever had in my life. Take your business elsewhere if scheduling and experience is something you need. I feel like they should be paying me for this job.
