Electric car repair service near Oakland, CA

This is my go to mechanic shop. My car is a 1991 Toyota Celica that was a gift from my grandpa before he passed so with that sentiment I'm trying to restore her to classic glory. This is where Chris and his trusty crew, Izzy and CJ come in. My upper engine and cooling system needed an overhaul this time but now it sounds quiet, smooth, with better acceleration while curing the overheating problem I was having. I called Angus with a question on possible engine replacement of 01 Camry with a seized engine. I have to say, he spend a good bit of time explaining to me the pros and cons and concluded that it was not just worth the effort! My impression of him is that he is very knowledgeable and possesses excellent judgement!

I made an appointment the night before for 7:30am the next morning (apparently appointments aren't necessary though), but of course, I overslept and missed it. When I arrived at 10:30am, they were all very forgiving and super kind. Besides being very knowledgable, the staff was eager to help and was very patient at my lack of knowledge about car/auto stuff. There's complimentary coffee and soft drinks available for you as you wait, as well as magazines and free wifi. They offered me a ride to work so I wouldn't have to sit and wait. The ride to and from work was pleasant - Jim was very friendly which made my ride to work nice. They called me a few times throughout the day to update me with what's happening with my car, which was helpful.While I don't know too much about standard pricing for auto services, I think the price I paid was very reasonable. I got a smog test, safety inspection, oil change, rotated tires, replaced my air filter and fixed an annoying crack on my windshield for around $170, which I don't think is bad. They made a list of parts I should replace for next time, and did not pressure me to get the things fixed now. Ultimately, given the price and the great service, this place is a pretty good deal. I'll be coming back here for all my auto/car related needs.

Had to throw in that 4-star rating, so you'd know I was paying attention! (The new tires are fine.) *** Would like GPS advice. I'm a map-persons, but my paper map doesn't tell me where the traffic tie-ups are. I don't think I could drive and wrestle my cell phone. Are there other options you might suggest that I look into?

I own a 2000 Porsche Boxster with 61,000 miles, so I came for the 60,000 mile service. I had an extremely positive experience at Zentrum. Three words come to mind with regard to Zentrum Motors…CUSTOMER SERVICE, HONESTY and WOKMANSHIP. Joe greeted me, sat me down and assessed my needs. I told him that I was concerned about the rib belt. I had purchased the car recently and was unsure if the rib belt had been changed. As it turned out the rib belt was good and it did not need changing They could have told me different and I would not known the difference. They replaced the spark plug coils as they were cracked. And repaired/replaced leaking sparkplug tubes among other things. The car is now running soooo good. And a gain of 3 miles per gallon is the tangible proof. From here on out only Zentrum will touch my Porsche. Robert Reed

One of the last honest auto services shops around. The don't overcharge or find things you don't need. Fast in and out repairs. I take my bimmer there for engine service and windshield repairs. Have even taken my motorcycle fiberglass fairing there for repair sanding , and sprayed with primer. My friends take their cars here for collision repairs and painting .I'm restoring a 1968 car so taking our car to this shop for painting and rusty floor pan replacement. Bruce is the best for detailing. Talk to Nam or Tony . The best team around.

OMG SO GLAD WE FOUND THIS PLACE!! My Porsche needed the "dreaded" IMS bearing and I didn't know where to take it that wouldn't "bend me over" and this place was GREAT!! They were priced right and provided us with SUPERIOR service that made us comfortable with leaving our car while it was being repaired. The owner/manager explained EVERYTHING that my 911 needed and would need in the near future and had an exceptional knowledge and working history with 911 Porsche's. I also noticed while there that they work on BMW and Mercedes so I will also be bringing my other cars here as well! My Porsche RUNS GREAT and we can't thank Joe, Annie and their staff enough for making this such an easy,fast and educated experience!! We can't say ENOUGH good things about this shop! Nice to find such an honest and personable place to take our European cars!

Straightforward, patient and considerate of my ignorance when it comes to cars. Mostly interacted with Bruce, who was very helpful, but the small interactions I did have with the rest of the staff were just as nice. Reasonable prices and a very professional atmosphere. Wow! I never thought in my wildest dream I could find an honest, experienced, and affordable mechanic to work on my car, but I did. Thanks, Jay! My son's car was leaking coolant and I knew that was an issue that had to be addressed immediately. I called several mechanics in Richmond, CA who asked for $95 just to diagnose the car. I stumbled upon Jay on the internet by random luck and I called him. He told me he could come out to my place and inspect the car, but because I live at the University Village he could not work on the car (due to restrictions imposed by the university). However, he said to bring the car to his place and that he would check it and, if possible, fix it that same day. Drove to El Sobrante, met Jay, and in 5 minutes he confirmed what he had already suspected on the phone, the radiator was cracked and leaking. He quoted me the price for the radiator and labor, and to my surprise, it was not an exuberant amount. As a UC Berkeley student I am on a limited budget, but what he had quoted me was manageable. Dropped the car off at 12:30 pm and it was fixed by 3:30 pm. Additionally, he gave me a 30 warranty on the labor and, of course, a 1-year warranty on the radiator. So, if you are a Cal student in need of repair work on your car Jay is your man.

Bob's saved us today: it was a Friday afternoon, the car started doing something wonky (chugging), and they were still open. We called in, dropped by, and were on our way in less than an hour: Bob's replaced the very part that was causing the problem, with their customary smile. These guys are incredibly generous with their time, especially for recurring customers like us, the loyal Volvo types that are willing to endure trips to the service center for the safety and drivability of these great cars. Best Volvo place in Berkeley!

My Mercedes 2003 c240. The whole front end was busted. Conrtol arms, bushings, etc. I took it in, and the work was fantastic! My car came back clean, and running smooth! I'll be back for my shocks and hoses my car needs. I'm super happy with the service! Happy I found someone I can trust, and knows my Mercedes. YAY!
