JTTS - Torello Tire & Auto Repair

JTTS - Torello Tire & Auto Repair

187 Saltonstall Pkwy, East Haven

It began well. Staff was personable, location clean and well kept. My second visit to Torello as I was pleased with my initial tire rotation and oil change service. Skip ahead a few months and I bring in my truck which has a leak from the transmission fluid cooling lines. After diagnostic, I get a call with a quote for dealer parts and labor to replace which is high at $1200. I check with my brother who has been a mechanic for 40+ years and he looks up the parts and they come to less than 200. I call back and speak with Mike and he tells me he quoted dealer parts. I explain that truck is a 2009 with 276K miles and there’s no real need for dealer parts and he tells me he can save me a couple of hundred dollars by going aftermarket. I authorize the work based on that discussion. I get a voicemail 5 days later telling me the truck is done and when I call back, the cost is $1650. One of the cooler lines was frozen to the cooler and they ordered the part and installed it without informing me first, so I have little say in the matter at this point. Tell him I will pick up the truck that same day. Their website and signs on the front door give 5 PM as closing time so I have time to pick it up after work. I arrive at 4:30 and my truck is nowhere to be seen and the doors are locked. I knock as I see someone inside and ask if they are closed and I get a nod before they turn around and go back to whatever they were doing. Now I have to take the next morning off from work so I can pick up my truck now that I know when they really close and that I cannot make it in time after work. The next day when I pick up the truck I see that the pricing still reflects dealer pricing to the tune of $750 vs the original $400 quoted for dealer parts (even though we agreed on aftermarket) Mike’s not there and Ashley can’t answer any questions. I pay the $1650, She hands me the key and says the truck should be on the side somewhere. Turns out, it’s blocked in by other vehicles in the fenced in area. Ultimately they pull it out and I leave. I’m pretty livid at this point and I look up the dealer parts and my cost online and find that I could have purchased them all OE for just over $400. So they almost doubled in cost. As if that weren’t bad enough, I go and look at the labels on the parts they actually installed and they are aftermarket. To sum up, they were friendly enough, but ultimately not straight with me about anything but the cost of labor.

Thank you to Randy and the team at Copeland Auto Repair. After getting a $3,200 quote for my brake system to be replaced at a local dealership, Randy told me what the ACTUAL problem was... my brake fluid was low because my front brake pads needed to be replaced. What was originally going to be a $3200 repair ended up being a $300 fix. I cannot thank Randy and his team enough for the honest work that they do. I whole heartedly recommend Copeland Auto Repair for all of your auto repair needs. Todd G

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP OR HAVE MAINTENANCE DONE TO YOUR CAR BECAUSE IT S OBVIOUS THEY HAVE NO MORALE CHARACTER AT ALL & YOU COULD BE NEXT!! On May 17, 2010 we assisted my brother Ronald P. Marschat, who has a learning disability and my mother Shirley Smith, who is a retired disabled senior, purchase a 2011 Toyota Camry from Charles Toyota Norwich, CT.We purchased a wrap around extended warranty vehicle service agreement for $1,572.20 with a 125,000 mile or expiration date of May 17, 2017, a key guard replacement program, an auto armor system, a Nano paint sealant and a Toyota auto care prepaid maintenance premium plan. At that time they financed the car with Toyota Motor Credit Corporation for 1.9 %.He was making his payments on time.He was taking the car into the same dealership for its maintenance and the maintenance service advisor kept telling him he needed to put a better protection program on his car. Then they started to call him stating that he needed to put additional maintenance programs on his car. My brother was confused and worried because he was not sure what they were asking him to do.On April 10, 2012 my brother and mother went to the same dealership to talk with them. At that time they used high pressured sales techniques and talked my brother and my mother into refinancing this same car as a used car through Greenwood Credit Union with 5.99% interest rate for four years more. Also the same dealership resold them another extended warranty through CAREGARD that was not as good as the original one, another key guard plan, another Nano paint sealant and undercoating service all of which were still in force when he originally purchased the car in 2010.Upon contacting the original companys with the warranties we found that both sets of warranties were both intact.A meeting was set up and upon arriving at the dealership we were treated very poorly. We were told that Nick Houle was very busy and would have to wait. Three hours past the m
