Levin Tire and Service Center was founded in 1918 as a small, family-owned tire repair shop. Today, we’re a full-service tire and auto service center with seven locations across Lake and Porter Counties in Northwest Indiana. We’re known for providing the most personal, professional, affordable and timely service in the area. In fact, in The Times’ “Best of the Region” we were voted “Best Tire Store” in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, and “Best Auto Repair Shop” in 2010, 2011 and 2012. We were also honored with the Post-Tribune’s Neighbors’ Choice Award for “Best Tire Store” in Lake County in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. We’ve been a Better Business Bureau accredited business since 1972 and we proudly hold an A+ rating. We carry one of the largest tire inventories in Northwest Indiana, including respected brands such as Goodyear and Michelin, all at guaranteed everyday low prices. We also provide complete automotive service and repair, from basic oil changes and tire repair, to computerized engine analysis, engine repair, heating and air conditioning system repair, and much more. I am a 65 year old Grandmother from North Carolina who was traveling with her daughter-in-law to Joliet, Ill. for a wedding on Sept. 6, 2014. A "Low tire pressure" signal showed on her Chevy HHR on the way to the wedding and we were directed to NTB by her uncle - who owns a tire business in Middletown, Ohio. I was advised by the tech that if the tire could be repaired, it would be about $25.00. I waited only a very short time for the evaluation and repair before I was ready to return the wedding festivities. Everyone was so nice and they sent me on my way without charging me anything (Out-of-State courtesy!) Best customer service anyone could ask for...they now have a customer for life. Thank you for training your workers in what is right in customer service. Faye Byrd, Asheboro, NC

Ongoing problem for 9 years. Dealer repaired emissions error and check engine light returned in two weeks with same problem. AACCEL repaired the emissions, and now I can fuel the car in less than 15 minutes and pass the Will County emissions testing.

I took my car in not knowing what to expect after my daughter had hit a curb hard and also noticing weird noises coming from my fairly newly bought used car. 59 Auto took it right in and fixed it very quickly and it didn't cost nearly as much as I had feared. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I found that Bob is one of the most honest mechanics that has worked on my car. That is one reason, I will return to him to work on my car. The other, which is also important, I am very satisfied with the work he has done. I will be returning to him when I need additional repairs.

I have been searching for someone to trust with my vehicle and I have found them. Under the incredibly personable approach of store manager, Carlos, I have found them to be thorough, trustworthy, competent, cooperative, warm and friendly. I cannot recommend them more highly and surely recommend their services to others. M. Butterfield

NEW MANAGEMENT - SAME PROBLEMS - 10 yr+ Firestone Lake Zurich customer (no longer, I will go next door from now on) that is completely feed up with this store’s upsell/extortion practices. I am a 57 year old gear-head/electrical engineer. I bought a “lifetime alignment” for my car and over the last few years have had to use this “lifetime” Firestone service a few times. During my ownership of this car I have had failures of both front struts (1 with a leak, 1 with a broken top bearing mount) and both CV axles (1 worn and clicking on turns, and 1 with sliced boot/throwing grease). These repairs THAT I PERFORMED required me to take the car in to have the front end “alignment” checked. On several occasions alignment was “checked” and no adjustment was required. During the last replacement of the passenger CV axle (November) I took the car in and asked that they change the oil, and check the alignment. Several hours later they call me and say that they cannot do the alignment (ever so slightly out) because they cannot loosen the tie rod ends because they are “rusted” in place. They said that unless I paid additional “Shop Fees” for them to loosen the rusted parts, or bought all new parts they could not do the alignment. I was not happy with their solution, told them so, and said I would “loosen” the tie rods for them when I got some time off during the December Holiday and bring it back. It took me 3 minutes per side with a propane torch and penetrating oil to loosen both sides. I again dropped the car off again, and asked for an alignment check. A few hours later they call and their story changes: Now one of my tie rod ends, and one of my control arm ball joints needs to be replaced in order for them to perform an alignment. I asked why they did not see these “alignment stopping problems” in November (no response), and was it possible to see what they were talking about. (The car drives like a DREAM! -no clicks/ticks/squeaks/creaks/pops…NO NOISE …NOTHING!) The mechanic (very nice guy) showed me an almost indiscernible (few 1000ths of an inch) play in each part as he vigorously shook the wheel while up on the rack with me looking, and using his Maglite. I was taken aback. This tiny amount of play is completely normal for a used car (110K) which obeys the natural laws of physics and material properties. A few 1000ths play in NO WAY indicates a part needing immediate replacement, or preventing alignment. FIRESTONE has now “entered” in their computer that an alignment CANNOT happen until these parts are replaced.

The ONLY guys who work on my German autos. Tony Jr. is a class act who will give you the straight-up and a ride to the office if you work nearby. Sure they're a bit more expensive than the Midas shop around the corner, but you certainly get what you pay for...peace of mind!
