I went to the Citgo mechanic for a vehicle inspection so that I could register my car in MD. My first impression was very good - the staff were friendly, got me in quickly, and gave me an estimate for repairs (a new tie rod and malfunctioning blinker) that seemed reasonable for the area. After having the repairs done, however, I learned several things that led to additional work (at another mechanic) and more money out of my pocket. I cannot recommend this business to anyone looking for a reliable mechanic. Though the mechanic fixed my blinker (the relay was off, causing it to blink rapidly), it started malfunctioning again the next day. I had to go back so he could fix it again. Annoying, yes, but not a huge deal. My greatest concern had to do with the tie rod. After leaving the mechanic, I noticed that my steering wheel was crooked (when driving straight, the steering wheel was actually turned 45 degrees to the left). My tires would also squeal when making turns. When I called the mechanic to talk to him about the problem, he told me that he could not fix it. He said my car would need an alignment, and that he could not do that for me. This confused me, as an alignment was supposed to be one of the things checked on a vehicle inspection, and the mechanic had, in fact, indicated that my vehicle passed the alignment check. Moreover, it is common practice to do an alignment anytime a tie rod is replaced to make sure the wheels are straight (failing to do so can cause the car to pull to one side when driving and affect the angle of your tires, which leads to poor gas mileage and uneven wear on the treads). After prodding him further, it came to light that the mechanic actually did not have the equipment needed to do alignments. He did not tell me this at any point during the initial inspection or when making repairs. Bethesda Sunoco and the whole team, Ian, Don, Mike, Dominic are terrific. My friend had a car that did not pass emissions inspection. She took her car there and Dominic looked at the car and told her exactly what was wrong and what it would cost. She offered to pay him and he declined. I can see why they have such a high Washington Checkbook rating! Hard to find honest mechanics!

I’ve used European Auto Body for my cars several times and have been more than pleased with the timeliness, the quality of work, and the price. This shop does excellent work and it’s obvious they take pride in what they do. Specifically, I refer to Mr. Linton Browne, who treats each car as if it’s his own, and who is one of the most customer-oriented technicians I’ve ever met. My most recent repair involved adjusting the position of the passenger-side front fender on my 2008 Corvette. The fender had shifted out of alignment—due to a long-ago previous repair from some other auto body shop—and was hanging up on the front edge of the door, preventing the door from opening. I stopped in one morning to make an appointment with Linton to bring in the car for repair. Linton literally dropped what he was doing, got out a few tools and, in less than ten minutes, he had adjusted the fender perfectly, thereby correcting a door-opening problem that had plagued me for quite some time. AND his price was exceptionally reasonable. Where else can you find service like that? I guess I don’t need to say where I’ll continue to bring my cars in the future!

I can't say enough good things about J & F Motors. I became a customer in 2011 when the warranty on my 2004 BMW 545i ran out. I felt that I couldn't get good answers from BMW dealerships and every time I went in, I didn't feel comfortable with their answers and what I was paying for. From day one, J & F has exceeded my expectations with their level of customer service, taking the time to explain to me what has gone wrong, what needs to be repaired asap and what can wait. I am a fanatic when it comes to my car and they understand that. They are what an automotive repair shop should strive to model themselves after.

I can't say enough positive things about Ty Nguyen's Arlington Auto Shop. I lucked into it about eight years when I was again hit while parking on DC streets. Ty offers personal, reliable service with free estimates. Work is reasonably priced, done on time and is guaranteed. I have recommended his shop to several of my friends and they were equally pleased. My car is ten years old and looks new as Ty uses excellent products and does paint matching that restores my car to its original look. Try this shop once and you will be back.

Terrible. Took my 99 Isuzu there because the exhaust system had loosened up and needed welding. Got talked into replacing the transmission pressure sensor as well to get rid of the error code. After work was done, the car would idle high and it started shifting hard, also the TPS error was still coming up. I took it back and asked them to fix it. A disgruntled mechanic told me he looked at it and couldn't do anything because the problem was electrical. Took the car to a friends relative who's a trustworthy mechanic. He informed me that they had installed the wrong TPS, which didn't align properly, and they had wired it wrong. It would go to about a 30% throttle at start up, then the voltage would actually decrease as you applied the gas pedal (it's supposed to gradually increase). Now it's been about 2 months, the exhaust weld has completely come undone and my car is loud again. The work they do here is horrible and I have no doubt they cut whatever corners they can. Go ANYWHERE else!!! Gave me estimate on repairs for a problem I was having. Two of the part prices they quoted were AT LEAST 400% markup of actual cost. Found out, after taking somewhere else (and checking also with at least 5 other shops), I only needed ONE thing replaced. Meineke's extremely outlandish high-priced rip-off attempts at their over 400% markup part prices were not even in need of repair or replacement!!! I wish one of those "Dateline" type investigations would be done on these crooks.
