Auto inspection service near Delete, NJ

I took my Volvo here because they said they were Volvo certified - they are not. Although the car was running perfectly fine, we wanted them to check out a "Check transmission next service" message. Three thousand dollars later, the message is still there and the car is stone cold dead in my driveway. They said there is nothing more they can do - and they were RUDE about it. Also, a Volvo mechanic told me that they charge at least 1 1/2 times what others charge. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE.

These idiots worked on a 2000 ford focus about 3 years ago that had a check engine code for downdraft O2 sensor. They replaced the O2 sensor, and it did not correct the problem. After $300, their "diagnosis" was that the computer was bad. (Forget the fact that the car started and RAN!) I just found that someone had pulled the PCV valve out of the valve cover and TAPED IT OFF. They also pulled the REF port hose from the EGR Pressure Sensor off the EGR valve and left it hanging. Now, I don't know if THEY did that, but they certainly should have NOTICED it. After $850 worth of parts (new catalytic convertor, 3 O2 sensors, spark plugs and wires) I reconnected these hoses and valves and low and behold, no check engine code. Stay far away from these morons.

I've been going to Hughes Auto Service for over 2 years now and can't say enough good things about them! They always do a great job and are extremely honest with me. I have an 18 year old Saturn which has been very good to me, but occasionally needs service. They always correct the problem and explain to me exactly what the car needed. They always call me before making any repairs to get my approval!!! That is very important to me. All the mechanics and the owner, John, are wonderful, hard working, honest people!!! I work in West Philadelphia about 6 blocks from 69th Street, Upper Darby. The roads around the center where I work are often littered with trash and construction debris. During the week of our son's wedding on Sept. 8, one back tire had to be fixed 3 times including the morning of the wedding! Not only does Paul Menta charge only $8-10 for this, his staff uses a composite plug that has held since Sept. 8 through round trips to Richmond, VA, 25 trips to West Philly, and 4 trips to South Jersey.
