Folks, please avoid York Tire & Auto. Being new to the area, I made the mistake of taking my car here to get inspected since they had the quickest availability. If I had bothered to look at the reviews (Google and Yelp) more carefully I would have kept looking and gone elsewhere. That was my first mistake. $50 to replace one wiper blade (they wouldn't let me do it myself), $90 to replace my license plate bulbs ($7.50 for a pack of two at Autozone, two screws each to get to the bulbs). They wanted $900 to do my rear brakes (they said shoes and drums and wheel cylinders needed to be replaced), but after calling around to other shops in town every other estimate was $400-600 worst case scenario. They also said I needed all new tires since I made the second mistake of telling them the car had just been sitting for an extended period of time. But when I took the car to a tire place last week I was told my tires looked almost new (they were, they were purchased just prior to the last inspection) and didn't need replacing, and that any flat spots in my tires from them sitting had likely worked themselves out after driving on them more. I ended up taking the car to another local shop (with no bad reviews) who changed the brakes and drums for $400 total. They also verified the tires were in good shape and that the rear wheel cylinders were fine. Bottom line, York Tire & Auto wanted over $1700 to pass the safety inspection, even though the car had largely been sitting and was even exempt for the emissions inspection since it had less than 5000 miles since last inspection. They flat out wanted to rob me. An honest shop would have said, "Hey we can't pass your inspection because the tires have flat spots from sitting, but if you drive on them more they will likely even out." With so many auto shops in this area there's no reason to take your car to a place like this where they will look for every opportunity to upsell you on things you likely won't need. Buyer beware.

I took my car here for a yearly inspection. The waiting room is very small and full of paint fumes. After an hour they said there was a problem with my rear parking break actuator. They said it would cost $80 to fix. I was very suspicious of this because I do all my own maintenance on my cars. We walked out to the shop and I asked them what the problem was. They could not explain or show me the problem. I said I wasn't going to pay them $80 for this repair and take it off the lift. I took my car to another shop and it passed with no problems. Be very suspicious of this business and always get a second opinion.

Was searching for a 2012 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI online and saw Huber's listed on the USAA and Carguru websites. Only problem was it was almost 2 hours away! The car's pictures, description and detail on the website made me give them a call. Eric Reder filled me in on the details over the phone and stressed how much work they put into the car before putting it on the lot. I was surprised to hear that because the car only had 36,000 miles on it! He also said that the car looks better in person than in pictures (he was right!). I drove out and met with Eric Huber and immediately hit it off with him- we are both VW guys. The car looked showroom condition (my wife said several times she can't believe its not new) but Huber's went over the car and performed all of the 40,000 mile services on it. The car is only at 36,000 miles! The point is, I think they could have just vacuumed it, washed it, put 2 tires on it and put it for sale, but Eric explained that most of his customers come there for follow up service and if I came back for the next oil change at 40,000 miles and he hit me with VW's recommended 40,000 mile service charge, I would undoubtedly be P.O'd since I just bought the car. And he's right. Eric showed me the list of all the work performed and gave me a copy for my records. Very impressed with that kind of thinking. Huber's is a full service car repair facility that also sells high quality used cars and they put good cars on the lot to keep their customers happy so they'll come back for service. Worked out well for me!

The waiting area for customers is DIRTY! It looked like it has not been vacuumed or the floor washed in years. The TV screen was so dirty, I could have signed my name in the dust mites. I should think they would have a cleaning service.

I was getting some unusual noise from the vehicle so I asked my wife to take it to Scott's Tune-up monday morning. They asked her to take the friday appointment. My wife asked the person to call me on my cell to explain it to me. Later when I called the shop, a lady picked up the phone and then complained that I took my vehicle without an appointment. I explained that the problem occured sunday evening and it was an unusual sound and that is why my wife took it to shop rather than drive it around not knowing what the problem is. This does not mean she wanted the mechanic to leave all other cars and fix hers. I have been to Midas, NTB, Lebzelter's and lot of other garages during an emergency and no garages behave like this. The lady still kept on pointing out that I took the vehicle without appointment. So my conclusion.. If you want a regular oil change.. go to them with an appointment. BUT DO NOT GO TO THEM IF YOU HAVE URGENT NEED. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND WITH THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOUR. I WOULD NEVER GO TO THEM AGAIN.

I called and they took my car quickly and did a great job on repairs. I was especially pleased when they told me my options. One fog light didnt work and they told me it may be better or lower cost if I have them disconnected since I never used them and they interfered with the inspection. also the price was reasonable and that is nice for a Volvo. I will take all my mechanic needs to this shop. the people are very nice.
