Over 80 years ago, the three Solomon brothers, Allan, Albert and Jerry opened a small tire shop on Broad Street in Philadelphia. In those days, recapping, a process in which a tire whose tread was worn would get a new tread put on it and be kept in service. The Solomons sold retread and new tires to an ever growing driving public. The brothers built their business through hard work, superior products and service. Fast forward 80 years and those principles still hold true. This place has terrible service. My in-laws have been coming here for years with their cars and are great customers. My husband and I took his car here to get checked out because it was not starting. We thought we were in good hands since the family has been here so many times and they've dealt with this particular car. They replaced a part and in the process shorted the entire computer system, yet they are denying it. We know they did it because when we brought the car in there was electric flowing (sound when we tried to start the car) and after they replaced the fuel pump, nothing. The autoshop that is now taking care of it even says the previous work almost definitely shorted it. They have only done a diagnosis so far. Now we need a new computer system PLUS the original fuel pump. Spending an extra $1600 for something JONES' broke. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE. And neither will my in-laws. Don't go here, clearly they won't make good what THEY broke even when your family has given them years of business.

A young employee came over to help me with pumping my gas, I already got out of the vehicle to grab something from my trunk so I told him it was fine, I can take care of it. (I did not know this was not okay). The kid said okay and walked away. I placed the gas pump into the car. One minute later, an older man with brunette hair and “Carl’s Services” on his shirt ran up to me all red in the face and yanked the pump out of my car and pulled my card out. He was less than 3 feet from me and yelled at me for what felt like 3 minutes. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. I am from out of state so I APOLOGIZED to him that I did not know. Instead of politely educating me, he proceeded to continue yelling and made me feel so uncomfortable and unsafe. I told him this is not how you should treat ANYONE and took my services elsewhere. Gas stations will always have people from in and out of state so he should have already been used to this and politely tell me he can take care of it for me.

This shop scams people. DO NOT COME HERE. I have FULL COVERAGE car insurance in which I do not have to pay anything in the event of a car accident. When I first called to release my car, they said that my car wasn’t there for 2 days. Meanwhile, incurring storage charges. This is the oldest trick in the book to get money when they “can’t find” your car. My vehicle was here for 2 full weeks sitting in their lot HOSTAGE. Insisting on ME paying them cash or credit card to be released to my insurance approved body shop. They dodged almost every single one of the insurance company’s calls when they tried to pay the tow and storage fees from them. Multiple times they claimed the owner was not in or the woman who deals with billing was out. Stalling to get more days in storage fees. When my mom went down there to sign the release paperwork, (7 days in at this point) the owner Benny tried to hustle $800 cash or credit card from her so “they could tow it to the new body shop.” Their attitude towards me and my mom were very demeaning. As a young woman, they tried to intimidate and bully money out of me by giving me misleading and incorrect information at EVERY interaction I had with them. They would not have treated me this way if I was a male. I ended up calling the police to assist me with ensuring my car gets out after 2 frustrating weeks. I saw the bill was only $920, including the 2 tows and 14 days in storage fees. Something doesn’t add up here. This is why tow-truck companies and body shops get a bad reputation, because of predators like them. Unprofessional, rude, shady people.
