Transmission repair service near York, PA

Folks, please avoid York Tire & Auto. Being new to the area, I made the mistake of taking my car here to get inspected since they had the quickest availability. If I had bothered to look at the reviews (Google and Yelp) more carefully I would have kept looking and gone elsewhere. That was my first mistake. $50 to replace one wiper blade (they wouldn't let me do it myself), $90 to replace my license plate bulbs ($7.50 for a pack of two at Autozone, two screws each to get to the bulbs). They wanted $900 to do my rear brakes (they said shoes and drums and wheel cylinders needed to be replaced), but after calling around to other shops in town every other estimate was $400-600 worst case scenario. They also said I needed all new tires since I made the second mistake of telling them the car had just been sitting for an extended period of time. But when I took the car to a tire place last week I was told my tires looked almost new (they were, they were purchased just prior to the last inspection) and didn't need replacing, and that any flat spots in my tires from them sitting had likely worked themselves out after driving on them more. I ended up taking the car to another local shop (with no bad reviews) who changed the brakes and drums for $400 total. They also verified the tires were in good shape and that the rear wheel cylinders were fine. Bottom line, York Tire & Auto wanted over $1700 to pass the safety inspection, even though the car had largely been sitting and was even exempt for the emissions inspection since it had less than 5000 miles since last inspection. They flat out wanted to rob me. An honest shop would have said, "Hey we can't pass your inspection because the tires have flat spots from sitting, but if you drive on them more they will likely even out." With so many auto shops in this area there's no reason to take your car to a place like this where they will look for every opportunity to upsell you on things you likely won't need. Buyer beware.

The folks at Hanover Lube and Brake have always been great no matter what the problem was with my car or my family member's cars...The girls at the desk (usually Tammy and Connie) are welcoming and very helpful in arranging times to bring my car(s) in for service...They are also very knowledgeable about car repairs in general...Dean has always been very kind and generous (not just with me and my family) with anyone who comes into the shop...I highly recommend Hanover Lube and Brake for all of your car care needs !

Was able to get in same day. Very friendly staff. Went to Ranglin’s after calling around and being told I would have to wait at least a week to get my car in. Got a appointment next day and was able to get I pick up car using there after hours lock box. Also price was very reasonable. Will definitely be coming back for my future car service needs.

Very, very pleased. Great quality work. No pressure tactics. Straight shooters. YOU are apprised of the situation and YOU decide what to do. I will never shop around for front end shops again. And I truly believe that their front end expertise carries over to their other offerings. Call them, talk to them, and work with them. You will not be disappointed. BONUS - They answer their phones! I took in my mustang to have a costom exhaust done i was happy with the idea they had but i was abit upset when i had to wait 2 weeks for parts, the parts were terrible quality for the price ( i paied over $100 for a pipe that was advance auto parts quality crush bent junk pipe) then after its all installed they put it on diffrently then discussed so my dual exhaust works as a single exhaust because of the h pipe being angled to favor one side and it all leaks horribly and the pipe keeps hitting the body and axle i am very dis satafied with the shotty work and cheap parts used when i paied over $700 for a job a student mechanic could of done better

Very professional folks! They saved me over $700 after Broadway Transmission misdiagnosed the problem with my transmission. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Fast, cheap and accurate! They also repaired some minor cosmetic problems at no extra cost.

01 chevy truck lost overdrive. Quoted $1000. Didnt hear anything for 2 weeks, then says its done and it cost $2800! No warning or chance to make that decision what so ever. Reluctantly paid and left with a lousy 6 month warranty. 7 months later trans goes out an hr from home. He says "welp, warranty's out". Says part broke not his problem. Tried to say it was the way i drive? This as a work truck.
