I've been coming here since when the guys only serviced Hondas (hence the name Japanese Beetle Shop, at least back in those days). They have service our 1997 (that's right folks) Honda Accord Wagon since 1997. Mike and Dave are the BEST. Fair, honest, quality auto repair. Reliable, on time delivery. I support our local independents. Even better when they provide outstanding service with a smile. Chat up a storm with Mike (I can call him Mickey) about his kids and anything else. Highly recommended. No frills but who needs your car washed and pickup service when you can TRUST the mechanic who works on your car?

I discovered Auto Care Specialist after too many years of being a dedicated dealership customer because I wanted to insure my car warranty was maintained. I took my car in to Auto Care Specialist today for basic service, and fully expected to have the oil, oil filter, air filter and lube done. When Chris contacted me to let me know that my car was in great condition and only needed the power steering fluid flushed, I asked "What about the oil and oil filter, and air filter?" Chris said "Not needed at this time!" Call me surprised by that news, as my car's oil and oil filter were always changed, every 6, 000 miles, and then always seemed to need something else done/replaced that increased the service cost well beyond what I anticipated, by the dealership. How refreshing to be not taken advantage of, and to have only the necessary work done on my car! Great and prompt service. It may have taken me too many years to find this quality auto service center, however, I am thrilled to know that my car care needs will be taken care of, without my needing to take a 2nd out on my house! I started by taking my Honda here just for a cheap oil change, but when I had other issues, I returned. Issac is unfailingly polite and helpful, and when I had a "check engine light" problem, he told me it was best to try the small and inexpensive fix first, which he did. He also researched the problem on the web, and showed me a recall which may have contributed to the problem. Issac is a born mechanic- he just knows cars! I also feel that he is as honest as the day is long. I know that many people think all mechanics are cheats, but I also know people want their car fixed for a song, or do not value a workers time and ask for lots of "freebies" or at least free advice. Absolutely the best mechanic EVER. Brian is the man. Honest, forthright, bright, knows BMW's in and out and a true gentleman. He is my mechanic for life. Thoughtful, thorough, precise, accurate, fair, trust worthy, generous. All that praise, is it possible? Yes. Try it. Brian will never disappoint. I took my BMW 330ci to him after the car was meticulously maintained by the dealer for more than 10 years but I let it go for almost 22k miles and just when it was dying I took it to Brian. After the service and a thorough look Brian brought it back to almost new and it works like a charm as I commute the hill and back daily. We are also a tire shop, selling new and used tires as well as removing and installing them. Wheel balancing and wheel alignment is also done here using the best technology from Hunter and Snap-On in order to remove any vibrations or steering problems your car may have. In addition to do this we do all general automotive work, from removing and installing individual components to total engine service. Car shaking while driving at speed. Seemed obvious alignment problem. Had alignment done. Received car back WITH NO COMMENT. I drove car and shaking still there. Took car back to tire/alignment shop. Now they tell me it’s the shocks. Something they probably should have noticed and told me already. But I know a little something about cars and it didn’t seem right to me; the car clearly passed the bounce up-and-down test. So I took the car to Expert Auto Care (EAC) being reviewed here. They put the car up on the rack, and within minutes came back to me to show me rattling tie-rod and bad ball joint…OBVIOUS, they were so bad. On the opposite side they showed me an adjustment nut was rust-locked into place and rounded-off. It obviously didn’t happen within the last week, when I had the alignment done, because of the corrosion. You would think the alignment shop would have noticed and told me that too. And how the heck could they do an alignment with either of those problems??? Also, they showed the tire shop we got the tires from (not aligned so), used a single 6oz weight for balancing. EAC said maximum single weight to use, according to state regulations, was 2oz. This is something else you’d think would be noticed by the alignment shop. All in all, EAC ball parked a couple of thousand dollars to service a $2000 car, and suggested it might be better to buy a new/newer car, and we should go home and think about this. Which was very good of them. (Not that I wasn’t going to do that anyway). On the shop wall there is cost of service, and the 20-25min diagnosis should have run between $60-$95, but EAC charged me nothing $0. Which was very very kind of them. I can highly recommend EAC for, at least, diagnosis service honesty. And, based on EAC’s diagnosis (which they showed me) I cannot recommend “Wheel Works of Mt. View” for suspension work.
