Engine repair service near South San Francisco, CA

Had to throw in that 4-star rating, so you'd know I was paying attention! (The new tires are fine.) *** Would like GPS advice. I'm a map-persons, but my paper map doesn't tell me where the traffic tie-ups are. I don't think I could drive and wrestle my cell phone. Are there other options you might suggest that I look into?

I took in my 2007 Nissan Murano because the dealership said I had both exhaust manifolds cracked and leaking. Niki and his team discovered that I really only needed one replaced and the other would be fine for a few more years. This saved me a lot of money and I never would have known the difference! I appreciate the honesty. The other thing to mention was that they ran into some issues with the replacement because the old one was so beat up. Niki said it would take another day to complete, but I was going out of town with my family. He and one of his mechanics worked extra hard and got it done in time. Very good service! -Patrick Naylon

I brought in my 1987 Dodge B150 van. Yes, a really old van that wouldn't pass smog. A "gross polluter" per the smog shop. Michele and Dennis worked on my car diligently to figure out what the issue was. Turns out the timing was way off. After 2nd smog test, the van no.'s were really good to a low emissions vehicle. Yeah! Dennis also pointed out that my steering column was very loose. In the past, I've been told that the whole steering column needs to be replaced. But here at GF Automotive, it might be repaired, saving me a whole lot of money. GF is an honest auto mechanic shop. Hard to come by these days. Thank you Michele and Dennis for all your help!

Sunset Garage deserves more stars than 5. I have fired so many mechanics in my life, and it must have been because I was waiting to find Georges and his crew. I have been using them for well over ten years and am one of their biggest fans. I ALWAYS recommend them anytime somebody brings up an auto issue. They can fix just about any auto out there, and can even tell you the "lemons" to avoid when you are out looking for a new or newer vehicle. Again, THANKS GEORGES!! You are the best. Steven H. My family & I have been going to California Auto Center for our car repairs for years. We also refer our friends & co-workers. We love their honesty - they only tell you things that you really need to fix. They explain very well on what the work/job/repair is. You also get a lot of good advises from them regards to car maintenance, car selections, smog check station, body shop, etc. Price is reasonable. Turn around time is as promised, and if urgent, they try to accommodate as much as they can. I still remember one time my car refused to start - I was in Campbell, and AAA does not even cover that long distance of a tow - Andrew called his regular tow truck company and towed it back to his shop for a very inexpensive fee. In addition, it happened after work hours, and Andrew spent his off hours to assist/rescue. You do not get this kind of good service at other places - but here.

These guys fixed a nail in my tire. I didn't have an appointment, and they fit me in. They said it would take 40 min and it took 40 min. I killed time in the shopping centre across the street. Nice guys, everybody smiling. Fair prices. Give them a shot!

DO NOT GO THERE PERIOD!!! I brought my car back for fan belt repair several times and it is still not working right. This shop is a rip off, stay AWAY. It is not worth even ONE STAR.
