Brake repair service near Trumbull, CT

I have had my car fixed at this shop numerous times. I would recommend them to anyone. It is always difficult to find a repair shop where you trust the people who are servicing your car...This is that place! They tell it like it is. No unneeded services or surprise extras when you go to pay the bill. To be fair, I had one uncomfortable situation arise with them. However, I was the one that made them uncomfortable (long story I wont bore you with) and once it was explained (professionally I might add), the situation was corrected and I continue to have my car serviced there. Autotech of Danbury is the best place to get work done on your automobile. I found them when I ordered snow tires earlier and sent them to a local recommended business to mount; their service and manner was excellent and when I mentioned them to a friend from here, she said oh! We've always gone there. I just now had to switch out my snow tires for new regular ones; George spent a great deal of his time helping me understand what I needed and searching for the best prices. They're fast and efficient. Working with George, Annie and their staff is easy. This is now my number one automobile place!

It began well. Staff was personable, location clean and well kept. My second visit to Torello as I was pleased with my initial tire rotation and oil change service. Skip ahead a few months and I bring in my truck which has a leak from the transmission fluid cooling lines. After diagnostic, I get a call with a quote for dealer parts and labor to replace which is high at $1200. I check with my brother who has been a mechanic for 40+ years and he looks up the parts and they come to less than 200. I call back and speak with Mike and he tells me he quoted dealer parts. I explain that truck is a 2009 with 276K miles and there’s no real need for dealer parts and he tells me he can save me a couple of hundred dollars by going aftermarket. I authorize the work based on that discussion. I get a voicemail 5 days later telling me the truck is done and when I call back, the cost is $1650. One of the cooler lines was frozen to the cooler and they ordered the part and installed it without informing me first, so I have little say in the matter at this point. Tell him I will pick up the truck that same day. Their website and signs on the front door give 5 PM as closing time so I have time to pick it up after work. I arrive at 4:30 and my truck is nowhere to be seen and the doors are locked. I knock as I see someone inside and ask if they are closed and I get a nod before they turn around and go back to whatever they were doing. Now I have to take the next morning off from work so I can pick up my truck now that I know when they really close and that I cannot make it in time after work. The next day when I pick up the truck I see that the pricing still reflects dealer pricing to the tune of $750 vs the original $400 quoted for dealer parts (even though we agreed on aftermarket) Mike’s not there and Ashley can’t answer any questions. I pay the $1650, She hands me the key and says the truck should be on the side somewhere. Turns out, it’s blocked in by other vehicles in the fenced in area. Ultimately they pull it out and I leave. I’m pretty livid at this point and I look up the dealer parts and my cost online and find that I could have purchased them all OE for just over $400. So they almost doubled in cost. As if that weren’t bad enough, I go and look at the labels on the parts they actually installed and they are aftermarket. To sum up, they were friendly enough, but ultimately not straight with me about anything but the cost of labor.

We have used Keating Bros. for years to purchase excellent used cars and for repairs. Never had a problem. I think that we have purchased more than a dozen vehicles over the years between myself and my family. Extremely trustworthy used car dealership. The only place we go for used cars. Rich and his team are highly professional! I Had him do a safety check over my entire vehicle before a road trip. He gave me a thorough list of my vehicles issues and never pressured me into doing any work. We worked through what was important to keep the car going and what could wait for a later date. He has a very clean shop filled with friendly faces that remembered me by name after only meeting once, and most importantly gave a speedy repair that was affordable to keep a young college student on the road! After getting a $3,200 quote for my brake system to be replaced at a local dealership, Randy told me what the ACTUAL problem was... my brake fluid was low because my front brake pads needed to be replaced. I am very pleased w/the work Miranda & Sons Automotive did on my 1998 Mazda B2500 w/168,000 miles. It is my only truck that was not running after I got laid off in May. Luis understood my situation and worked w/my situation. If I did not have the lower front ball joints replaced I was possibly looking at serious future problems. I love my truck and it rides almost like new w/all the work his team did. Very professional and a nice team to work with. He also threw in a oil change. I'm happy I found a new mechanic! It's sad how the allure of money changes someone (in this case, Guy) who you thought was a trusted and skilled mechanic. I had a simple engine splash plate underneath the car get loose and just needed that replaced. As you can imagine, it's a simple job that would take a maximum of 2 hours (and that's being kind considering that this was a slow day for his shop). He tied up the loose plate underneath for the time-being with a piece of metal in order to prevent it from sliding on the ground while i drive. This would holdover until tomorrow. He told me it'd be $120 total (about $60+ for parts and the rest for labor, which I originally thought was outrageously high but I trusted his skill and experience with me in the past so I went with it--oh boy was I wrong!). He wanted a $50 deposit that would go towards the final price at the end. We were slated to do this the next day, but a few hours after first seeing him about this plate issue, I called him to ask him why the aftermarket part was so expensive because I researched online and saw that the Honda plate is about $80-$90, and I couldn't find an aftermarket one that costs more than $50. He said it's because I want it done quick the next day (considering it's not the same day, is it really quick? but ok, again, another thing I did not contest because he did a good job for me in the past) and that's the only place that sells it for next-day delivery (what place? i didn't bother to ask because, again, i trusted his previous record with me). I was standing there with him in his shop while he called to ask for the part. He didn't even call many places for the part; only one place. Looking back, I should've said something. Tomorrow's here and I dropped my car off at the time we agreed upon. I left the car there. About an hour later, he calls me from two different phone numbers asking me "hey where is your wheel lock?" 21 minutes after he called me and left a voicemail, I called him back (yes I'm looking at my call history right now). I told his secretary that the wheel lock is in the glove compartment and I told her to tell him that I would like to have the car up so that I can look underneath it to inspect the work and the new part (you'll see later at the end of this review that I never got to see the work with the car up so I can look and touch the part). 2 hours and 45 minutes after I dropped the car off, he called to tell me it was ready to get picked up. An hour went by and I went to pick it up. HERE IS WHERE GUY'S AUTOMOTIVE BECAME GUY THE SCAMMER. I entered the shop and asked Guy "hey can you have the car up so that I can take a look at it?" Guy says "lay low on the floor and look at it, it's new so you can tell." I did just that and as far as I can tell, yeah it's a newer part. I checked a few more times after, I still can't tell if it's been used but it's definitely newer than the one I had before--but that's a very low bar considering that the one I had was scraping the floor for like 20 miles going about 60-70 mph on I-95 before I brought it to him. I let that slide but I was already smelling Mr. Scammer working up tricks. I went back into the shop and Guy tells me "yeah we didn't end up using many rubber screws for the job so I'll give you a discount of $3 off that $120, so you're looking at $117." Ok, that's fine. And then here is the KICKER. Guy then says "yeah but listen, we had to go look for the wheel lock because we waited for you to call back so now the total is $167. Oh and by the way, I never was able to find the wheel lock." 20 minutes of waiting costs an extra $47? I couldn't wrap my head around this so I said "uh yeah you're raising the price by a lot, I can't accept this." He knew he was up to his BS limit (or what most people would call LYING) so he then said "ok let's meet in the middle. Let's split the $47 in half which is $24 and you can pay me $144 total" It's actually $23.50 but I agreed because at this point, I knew I would never go back to his shop. Got in my car & the wheel lock was sitting right in the glove compartment just as I explained.
