Transmission repair service near Arlington Heights, IL

I took my ML 350 due to a problem with the Engine. The drive chain had broken. The dealer's recommendation was to repair and cost was something of buying another car! So, I took to Dupage Auto Werks. The recommendation is to replace the 118K miles engine with a much lower engine. They shopped and found a fimilar engine and practically did a 'Engine Transplantation'! Now that I have an engine not only has a lower mileage, but also was cheaper overall. Very satisfied with them to have suggested and able to get my car worth somehting that I can keep it a much longer time!

This is a very convenient location for me,and my family has used Frank's for years. The service is great and the prices are always on point. I really like being able to drop off my car, then walk across the street and catch the metra into work.

First of all, if I could give Murphy's 0 stars I would. Until 2018, I had received pretty good service from Murphy's. Had spent thousands of $ for car repairs on 2 older cars. On my '99 Durango, I had recently developed a coolant leak. Was using about 2 qts of coolant every 60 miles. Was getting a sweet anti freeze smell inside the car and noticed some coolant on the garage floor. Went back to them because they had previously replaced both hoses and the radiator. Figured that if they failed I might be covered by "warranty" or "good will". Needless to say, Chris called me and told me that the lower hose was leaking. They had replaced it, the first time, on 06-15-17. Second time failed on the Dan Ryan Expy in 90 heat. 2nd time was 06-23-17 with 92413 miles. Had to have it towed to Murphy's. Now, on 02-21-19, with 101762 miles, Chris told me that it was leaking because it had rubbed against the frame of the vehicle and a hole had worn thru. I asked him if the hose had moved and he said no. He said the repair would cost $189.46 parts and labor. He couldn't do anything about the price because it was "out of warranty". I told him the mechanic should have noticed that the hose was making contact with the frame or very close to it. He didn't say anything. He said they replaced the old Dayco brand hose with Gates brand that was bent better. I contend that I should NOT HAVE PAID ANYTHING for the repair because A. They were not conscientious when they replaced the hose the 2nd time and should have seen the frame contact or close to frame, and B. Warranty or not, hoses do not fail in 9349 miles. If I had known how this was going to turn out, I wold have never gone back to Murphy's. Thus I will never darken their doors again and recommend that nobody else does either. I asked a friend who is a mechanic/repair shop owner in Orland Park about this and I will not say what he said about Murphuy's. Orland Park is too far to go to from western burbs. Originally I offered Chris to maybe go 50/50 on this but he refused to budge. I am so aggravated about this and mistreatment of a long time customer I am now seeking 100% reimbursement of the $179.46 I paid.

Saved Me Money I went here because I was told by another transmission shop that I needed a transmission. Not only was Doug's price lower for a rebuilt transmission, but when he checked out my car and called me I was told I only needed a solenoid to fix my problem. I saved $1200 and my car works great!

I took my car to Daves for a transmission rebuild. It was in their possession for over a month before I got it back. I think i only got it back then because i called everyday for a week until it was done. I picked it up and drove it around for a while since it had been sitting for so long and noticed a rattling while the car was idling. Took it to my regular mechanic and the trans mount was bad and the bolts holding it on were loose. This should have been caught and repaired/replaced before the car was returned to me so I didn't have to waste my time getting it repaired elsewhere. If notified I would have authorized the repairs. I called Daves to let him know what happened and was told that his mechanic told me about the mount ( not true as I would have never left with it like that). He offered to fix it for free (after getting offened that i was telling him about this and insulting my auto shop) but I am having my own trusted auto shop do it. I will spend the extra $200 at a place that doesn't give me the run around. I can't afford to be without my car for another 2 weeks. Buyer beware. You get what you pay for. I only have 2 stars because he offered to replace the part for free.

DO NOT bring your car here!! I was told it would be about a week and my car would be done. So a week later I called they said they need to order a part and I would get it back this Friday. called that Friday said they need to put one little part on and test drive. So I call on Tuesday and what do they tell me "there waiting on a part" agin. They will LIE to you and give you the run around. If you need your car in less then a month don't take it here!

Friendly & knowledgeable staff. Great prices. Quick Service. I can not imagine a more friendly and honest repair shop. Whenever you bring your car to a mechanic you are weary of getting ripped off. Now that I have discovered this gem, I fear no more!

The automatic transmission in my Toyota Sienna van appeared failing to up-shift to 3rd and OD gears. I took the car to a number of local shops to diagnose and quote for repair. The Toyota dealer charged me $62 for only taking a short test drive without any diagnostic scanning of the car and said the transmission needs to replace (refurbished) at $3520. Another shop did do the scanning and test for free but told me to rebuild the transmission. Then I came to Superior Transmission. The job is also backed up by warrantee or credit if further work becomes necessary. So far my car runs as good as it used to be. I highly recommend Superior Transmission to everyone who needs transmission repair, at least it should be your shopping list.
