Oil change service near Maplewood, NJ

I am fairly new to New York. You hear often the stereotypes of a dog-eat-dog world. So looking for a mechanic, and honesty, is not an easy task. However, I was in a jam and needed to find one. I came across the reviews for Hughes Motor Corp, and I was immediately impressed to make a call. Vinny answered (he's part of a duo with Kevin). He was very friendly and assuring when I told him about the problems with my Durango. I had AAA tow the car to their workshop in Yonkers. These guys are professional, efficient, and you get your car back within the time frame that is estimated. Overall, I highly recommend this workshop, they are a great team. They will take care of your problems and put you at ease. Cars are expensive toys, what you hope to get is a decent repair job at a fair price. These guys provide both, you'll be in good hands. This is a Shell Station. Avoid this mechanic like a plague rat. I came in for a quick oil change, they did it wrong, and I had to call the police over to get my car back. My experience: - They advertise an $19.95 Oil Change Special for 4 cylinder cars. - They demanded $35 after the service and claimed that the Oil Change Special does not include the oil filter, and that they topped off my washer and brake fluids. - I said I could pay them the $20, like they advertise. - They refused, and would not release my car. - I called the non-emergency police line to have the cops provide an objective view on our disagreement. - The owner agreed to honor his advertised price once the police talked to him. I go the car back and found out: 1) They lied. They never topped of any fluids, for which they tried to charge me. 2) They put in the wrong oil. My car is specified for 5W-20. They used 10W-30 If they cannot even do a simple oil change right, then I have no confidence in their ability to do anything more complicated.

I have been using Parkway for over 5 years, and have found them to be the most honest and reliable service center that I have ever used. The oil change price is fair,conveinent location, takes about 40 mins to get your oil change done. The only real negative is with every car I seen them service, they find additional work that needs to be done to the car and they are hard sell about it. I can only speak for myself, when I waited for the oil change 6 people were in the waiting room when I arrived, they spoke to all 6 about additional work needed. When they came to me, I declined the work (they stated additional fluids needed changing- interesting thing is I had those fluids changed 3 months ago, not by them, and I know it was done) After I declined the additional service I was told the car would be ready shortly, 10 mins later the car was not done but they spoke to me again about the fluids being changed. They brought with them a bottle of dirty fluid this time, was it mine? Who knows but I doubt it. I will not go back to this place which is a shame. They used to be a great place to get your oil change done.

I went in for an oil change and they took it upon themselves to tighten my belts for an additional $50 without permission. They are crooks.
