If you are looking for a good car mechanic that is fair and reasonable, I'd highly recommend Steens Master Lube in Newport. Got stuck in Newport with a dead battery. Went to a couple different shops (leaving the car running) and was told it would be 3 days to get the correct battery in from Portland, or it could be over-nighted for an extra fee. Frustrated, I started calling the auto parts stores and low a behold found the right battery on the shelf at NAPA for a good price. Contemplating the best way to get this new battery in: tools needed, the car security system going haywire, etc. I ended up at Steens Master Lube. Russ, the owner, was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about my specific car's needs. He had me in and out of there in 20 minutes and wouldn't take a cent from me no matter how much I insisted.
