The manager here comes off a little funny but being knowledgeable about cars myself, I chose to go here after sending my car to another place that claimed to be experts but wanted to charge me for a wrong and unnecessary problem. The mechanics at Independent fixed the actual issues with my car and now it's running very smooth. I found the mechanics to be great. Any negative reviews might be due to irrational costumes who see an old looking independent business and think they can get them to charge under price, then get mad and irrational when they don't. My parents had a housing appliance shop growing up and they'd get the same kind of bs from the locals.

I pulled in for a NY state auto inspection around 5:30 pm. Despite looking very busy I was accommodated in a few minutes They provided the inspection quickly and efficiently. Everyone was very courteous, the task was finished then I was on my way. I would recommend this shop to anyone and will return when I be require service or repair in the future.

This is the place to go for your rover works, when no one can figure it out they will, not only is the work done right it will last.

The first-time visit on a Saturday and they treated me like a long-time customer. Very professional and they all know what they are doing. Fair pricing and fast service. A rarity especially in Hunts Point. My mechanic retired after 25 years with him and I've been looking for a place I can trust to take my car for anything I may need. I hope I found the place. TO COMPLAIN ABOUT REDOING OR CORRECTING THE CHIPS OR PEELING PAINT IS POINTLESS... I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU NOT TO TAKE THE CHANCE WITH STAR AUTO MECHANIC/BIG STAR AUTO(SAME COMPANY, SAME PROBLEMS, SAME TERRIBLE WORK)IF YOU RELY ON YOUR CAR OR IF YOU WANT THE WORK DONE PROPERLY AND EFFICIENTLY...
