took my van back due to major oil leak..it was covered under their warranty, however they managed to find another problem that cost me additional 184..after having the vehicle for 3 days, drive vehicle home with oil light flashing.. so i take it back and now they want to charge me another 60 for diagnostics .. i was really hoping i found a honest mechanic that stood behind their work, guess i need to keep looking. they want to nickel and dime me due to the cost they had to eat for the warranty work.. Howard even told me it was a shame he had to eat the cost of this...

This place is definitely a 5 star rating from me. I called on a Saturday afternoon because of an incident I had on the highway where a piece of wood fell from a trailer and ripped up my transmission pans and caused a bad leak. Needed work done ASAP because I had an 8 hour road trip to return home 3 days later. The owner Eduardo picked up my phone call and came in on his free time to check my car out and fix it as soon as possible. It was ready to go in just 2 days. He was extremely friendly and professional. He took the time to update me on my car with the exact issues and costs. Very affordable. I highly recommend this shop. First off, let me give a thanks to Sabien and the rest of the staff at Standard Gear and Transmission! The service was awesome, and the results are incredible! Hopefully my experience will help others with the Cummins / G56 drivetrain. My throwout bearing was making noise for some time, and I continued to drive the truck, as it is my daily driver. Long story short, this destroyed my clutch fork, input shaft, and input bearing. I was on the fence for some time about doing away with the stock dual-mass flywheel and clutch. Sabien recommended a South Bend Clutch OFEK kit, and let me say, it is amazing! The engagement is similar to stock, but very positive. It does not grab, and shifts are silky smooth. The trans was refilled with 30 wt synchromesh, and it now runs smoother and quieter than I ever believed a G56 could. Pedal effort with the new hydraulics is so light that I nearly pushed the pedal through the floorboard when I started the truck for the first time. Gone are the truck's tendency to buck and jerk in reverse, and the noises from the factory clutch. I'm literally having to learn to drive the truck again, as it's manners and sounds are like new. My car was broken down and I called Teaberry Enterprises the chief mechanic and principal owner is Scott. I was very much impressed with the service that I received this is a knowledgeable mechanic and an honest one. I highly recommend this mechanic to anyone who has any car problems

The mechanic there named Terry is a bold faced liar. Quoted me $850 worse case scenario. Had my car for a couple days, gave me a call told me again on this second occasion, $850 for parts/labor & also mentioned a $60 belt that I denied maintenance, to fix only the main problem. (2) days laters Terry tells me it's going to be $1,900. I let him know absolutely no way, so he convinces me, cons me into his front desks pre-approved on the spot loan that I'll be able to pay within a year. Paid him all my money, $1,000 so he "would be able to order parts". Now Terry says my rides ready, but I have to give him a check for $952. So basically Cookson's Transmission City has my car(house right now), my life savings, and most of my personal belongings for $150 over originally quoted on two seperate occasions.
