I inherited my Mother's car after she passed away from lung cancer last month and called a couple of Viper distributors to see if they would help me move my Viper Model 350+ from my truck to the car. I purposely sought out a Viper Distributor to handle the install, thinking they would do a good job. Explaining the situation, the person that I talked to at the first shop, Custom Sounds at 2001 S. Lamar, the guy on the phone wanted $80 just to uninstall the alarm from the truck and another $300 to reinstall it into the car. Heck, I only paid $200 for the alarm. The second shop I called (which was Car Toyz at 4704 S. Congress, Austin, Tx) quoted me $100 for starters. I might have gone with this quote, but while explaining the trouble I had with the first distributor, the guy on the other side of the phone hung up on me, not once, but twice! I have been a Defensive Driving instructor/trainer for 27 years - I teach hundreds of people DDC each year and I get tons of inquiries about auto security systems. It will be a cold day in Hades before I recommend either one of these stores to my students. Go to Sunbusters off of 183/Duvall and talk to Dave. He is a great person to work with and won't try to rip you off. Sunbusters is the best and most reasonable Viper Distributor in Austin. Dave knows what customer service is all about and will treat you right…
