I have used this shop many times - the neat thing is that they realy only charge labor - alot of shops pad their part cost and make more $, this shop is on the level and they do great work. This shop has a 25,000.00 diagnostic maching that hooks up to your computer - NO GUESS WORK I have reffered my friends to this shop - never a complaint I read all of these reports - I own a business and it seems their is always one person who thinks they are more of an expert at your business than you are...

This shop is the shop you definitely want to take your vehicle to. They were very friendly and quick. The cost to have my transmission rebuilt was not bad at all. Not only do I take my vehicles there but so does my family. Iv been a customer of theirs for over a year. My family and I refuse to take our vehicles anywhere else but to this shop. As far as the above review I have no idea what they are talking about.

There was no parking so I had to get a little on the grass so I pull in and get out of my vehicle and was approached by a Superior and was rudely asked to leave, apparently they have to much work and don't need any new business from another small business. Which customer relations is a huge part of so I hope this helps anybody before they go here.

8/14/16: My transmission broke down in downtown San Antonio. I was visiting from Las Cruces, NM. Needless to say, I was in a bind. It was Sunday and I had no wheels in a strange city far from home. I called a few places with 24/7 towing and Gary from Select Transmission was the first to get back to me. Beggars can't be choosers, so I had the truck towed to their shop. 8/15/16: The parking lot at Select is jammed with vehicles. This might be a sign of them being in high demand because of their excellent service, but it's really because they are slow and/or overbooked. I'd be fine with slow, IF the work is done properly, but that was not to be in my case. They were super nice and cool as they talked knowledgeably about automotive repair. I ended up ordering an upgraded 4L80E with a nationwide 3 year warranty and was able to get financing for the whole cost of the repair, approximately $3800. I told them it would be about 3 weeks before I could arrange to get back out to SA to pick up the truck. I caught a flight home for $350 since I had to work the next day. 8/29/16: I called Select to get an update. Gary said it would be ready by Wednesday, the 31st. I let them know I'd be coming out at the end of the week, which would be the start of Labor Day weekend. 9/2/16: I took an afternoon flight to SA (another $350) and got to Select at about 5pm to pick up the truck. They had apparently been rushed to put it back together...so much for being done by the 31st. Gary told me there was a noise and they couldn't figure out the source. I knew of a noise coming from my front transfer case every now and then, so I told him that was probably it. He also told me that the transmission would make some noise for a few hundred miles as it broke in. Not knowing any better, I drove it for about 90 miles while there was this loud scraping sound. I ended up parking it at a friend's place. Underneath the truck there was evidence of fluid leakage and the skid plate that protected the transmission was missing. The shop was closed for the weekend so I couldn't take it back until Tuesday. 9/3/16: I called Select and got Gary the lying rat on the phone. He was at some Labor Day weekend tailgate party and the shop was closed. He told me to check the fluid level. No help there, the fluid level was fine. 9/5/16: I wasn't going to drive the truck 700 miles making that noise and I wasn't going to leave my truck there for another three weeks so I arranged to have it shipped back to a transmission shop in El Paso for $500 and rented a car to drive home ($120). 9/10/16: My truck arrived at the shop in El Paso. I owe the guy there $400 for the balance of having my truck shipped. 9/22/16: I make it into the El Paso shop and pay the $400. He had already inspected the truck and pulled the rear transfer case off the back of the transmission. It had not been filled with oil, the filler plug on top was missing and the drain plug was loose. The inside was full of metal shavings. Total cost to replace with a rebuilt unit: $1241. Thanks a lot, Select Transmission! To be fair, the transmission itself was fine and installed properly. But PROPER removal and replacement of the rear transfer case is an integral part of the job and this was not done.

THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF!!!! I SPENT 1,700 on my car for the transmission to be rebuilt than not even an hour after driving off my car was doing the same exact thing as when I took it in so I called and the owners wife said to bring it back in and they will fix it.. So there I go spending more money on more stuff that supposedly needed to be fixed.. Second time picking the car up the next day the car breaks down in the middle of the high way while I have a one year old daughter in the vehicle. I call once again and they say to bring it back in.. Later that day I get a call from the dumb ass owner "MECHANIC" or whatever he is and he's telling me they're not going to fix it because it's my fault the car broke down so after arguing for thirty minutes straight he tells me he will fix it. I than picked up my car for the third time and not even a day later there's transmission fluid leaking everywhere.... IM DONE... and I will never go back to that place. I recently took to a new transmission place and they said none of the new parts that were put into the car were put in right so I spent another 1,800$ on having everything fixed that should've been done the first time! READ THE REVIEWS AND DPNT LET THEM SCAM YOU.

I went here for my car to get the transmission rebuilt. The cost was going to be $900 and everyone else wanted 2,000 on up, so I guess I should have known I get what I pay for. Well it's true, 9 months later my transmission is going out AGAIN. So it wasn't rebuilt, it was patched up. Beware that you do get what you pay for, to fix it now will be $2,400 which is not worth it for the year of my car. Hope this review helps someone else not to waste their money.

I took my car in a few months back to get the oil changed. Had a decent experience, it is close to my office so I was able to drop off my car and come back after work. I got the synthetic blend oil change for $20 and thought it was a great deal. I attempted to bring my car in again this morning and they told me that the $20 deal would not work for my car and I had to use the $50 full synthetic. I was extremely concerned because they either put the wrong oil in my car the first time or were trying to take advantage of me and get me to spend more money. Needless to say I did not leave my car there and will no longer use their services. The sad part is that it was the same service manager I dealt with the first time that told me the $20 deal would not work for my car. When I explained to him that I took it to him previously and was concerned that the wrong oil has been in my car for three months he shrugged his shoulders and said we will flush it out. It was absolutely ridiculous and I hope he does not feel that way with all services that they provide. Next time he may shrug his shoulders when they don't put the lug nuts on tight enough.

This place was recommended by a friend. He quoted $200. if I bought the parts. I got the parts and took the car in on a Thursday. I asked the OWNER when it would be ready. He told my friend....same day. When I asked he said the next day after 4 pm. He quoted me $25.00 more for a total of $225. instead of the $200. OK, I can handle that. The next day comes, no phone call so I thought it would be ready. I showed up at 3 ( on my way to work) thinking maybe they finished early. Nope, hadn't even started. I asked what is the new finished time. Not Friday...Not Saturday...Not Sunday or Monday...maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. Since this is my only car I was taking the bus everyday. Just to get to the shop was a serious hassle. Of course it wasn't ready Tuesday...what was I thinking? ON Wednesday (the 7th day) they called. "It is ready please pick up and bring cash only." I said I would be there at 4:30. I bummed a ride from my friend and had her drop me off. I went to the office and no one was there. I was ten minutes early so, I figured they would be right back...55 minutes later they were still gone. I called my friend back and pleaded for a ride. (I have good friends.) The next day they were there and my car was buried behind 3 cars. I paid my bill and left. After eight days instead of 8 hours, $25 more than the original quote. When I pulled into my driveway I noticed that there were grease hand prints all over the car. Anyway, the car seems to be fine. No explaination was forthcomming from the owners daughter and the owner was nowhere around.

I dropped my truck off at this garage to have some engine work done on it. I didnt get it back till about a month and a half later and spent over $2200 for repairs. My vehicle runs worse than it did when i brought it in and again, after a month and a half of waiting and over $2200 later. The guy never kept in toouch w me on the progression and status, i had to always call or go by to see how much longer it would take to get my truck back. He had very bad communication, and poor customer skills and very poor workmanship. One of the times when i stopped in to check on my vehicle, a must have walked around the shop for about 10mins till i found someone. And that person had a strong odor of marijuana coming from him. Then i talk to the owner about my vehicle, and he smells like hes been smoking as well alone with blood shot eyes. Poor communication, poor workmanship, poor work ethic, the list can pretty much go on and on about this place. Then the guy says to bring it back to get a second opinion so i can get an additional charge on top on what i already paid. Ummmm, "NO THANKS"!!!! I just think that people should know about this place and what their about, Bad Business! So no! I do not recommend this place for vehicle repairs what so ever. Its not fair and i feel its my job now to help others to not make the same mistake i did by takeing thier business there.
