We broke down on I-684 and had no choice about getting our fuel pump replaced here. The good - They were able to get to our car the next day (Saturday) and get it done and they gave our family of 4 a ride to a hotel. The bad - They are *very* expensive. While the parts and labor charges were clear and technically correct, they were at the very top of the high end of the range for everything. They were as expensive (or more) than going to a dealer! I had asked if they could cut us a bit of a break, given their high prices and our financial situation (We are not well off, as evidenced by our 11 year old car). But they would not even consider giving us even a dime of discount.

Today (Oct.3rd,2012) I felt like I won the lottery!! Today I found an HONEST auto shop. My car wouldn't work for a couple of days, nothing electrical was working. My regular mechanic, who has checked my car inside and out, told me that I probably needed to get a new ($800.00) alternator. But the wonderful people at Jays Auto Body quickly found the real reason: the clamps connecting the battery had become rusted, and with sandpaper, they easily fixed the problem,by removing the rust. Even though for years, my regular mechanic had been telling me that they had been checking my battery during routine inspections. Jays Auto Body also inspected my front brake pads & rotors, when another auto shop tried to scare me into buying new ones every year, or I would have an accident with my brakes.But when Jays Auto inspected my rotors; they said that they were just fine. Also, he made a follow-up call to make sure everything is all right and apologized for my long wait, which I understood due to the busy day.
