Radiator repair service near Lake Bluff, IL

Made an appointment for 8 am, when I called at 11:30 am, my car had not yet been looked at. I received a message around 2:30 pm with the inspection results. So 6.5 hours after appointment drop off. Tuffy completed oil change, tire rotation and rear brakes just before closing time at 6 pm. There are individual coupons for each service but a $30 cap is applied on discounts per visit. I may make two or three separate appointments next time so that I can use all the coupons. I had to bring the car back the next day due to a loud exhaust type noise. It turned out that the air filter compartment was not reinstalled properly so minor fix but still resulted in a return visit. I like the team at Tuffy and plan to return but some of the above issues should be improved upon.

Truly thankful for this establishment today. I was in a bad spot very close to the end of their business hours and they still helped me although they could've sent me on my way. A special thank you to Rachel & Tommy. You guys are the best! Dion Y

I don't know why I chose Schaumburg Automedics to service my car when I first moved to Chicago 20+ years ago, but I am really glad I did. They have kept my various old cars running much longer than I would have expected. I was thinking about junking my car after this last service, but the SA Team did such a fantastic job the car drives better than when it was new (to me). I had several idiot lights on my dash and thought I had no ABS of VSA because the lights were on. The guys working on something else noticed some frayed wires along the firewall from some rodent or something. Now ALL the dashboard lights are off. They also fixed some extra things I didn't ask for and didn't notice till I got home. AAA Stands for quality service. AAA never hung a sign on a shop as good as Schaumburg Automedics. I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma with 87K on it. Great truck. Check engine light came on so I went to a local dealer where I had purchased two other vehicles in the past. They said I needed both catalytic converters for the not so surprising sum of $3600. I understand that dealers always charge high for parts but, no. I went to Paul's Bender Center ( to the dealers credit they did suggest Paul's ) and they quickly found bad gaskets near the O sensor causing the bad reading. One hour and $ 109.20 later AND a passed emissions I drove off smiling. I've been to Paul's in the past and will surely return and recommend their services to everyone. James M. Kenosha, WI

While my car was on the lift, KS showed me precisely what was wrong and what steps they were going to take to fix those problems, as well as providing a detailed estimate of cost and time involved for the entire repair. KS divided the repairs into two components: those that were urgent and needed to be done soon and those that could be put off for a while. I chose to do all of the repairs at one time. I was so lucky to have brought my car for service on Monday. I have had so many bad mechanics try to fix my car but Velasquez and Darwin FINALLY got to the root of the problem and fixed my check engine light that was on for months. Other mechanics claimed they fixed the check engine light problem but the didn't. It is NOT easy finding a good, honest mechanic these days. I know I finally found one and can confidentially bring my cars to Velasquez in the future. Darwin also changed the gaskets. I had paid a mechanic to change them a few months ago but apparently didn't. I actually paid to have the purge valve and gaskets changed but they never were. Darwin even showed me the defective parts. Thank you Darwin and Velasquez mechanic shop. Brian 2-9-22
