1.0 star rating 7/10/2019 I dropped my 1982 VW off at Hartloves in August 23,2017 to have John get the engine running (as it was not running for 7years)if he could and get it roadworthy. After many months he and crew got the car running and contacted me so I went to MVA got tags ,insurance in February 2019. When coming to pick up vehicle the mechanic said he had it on the road doing 80 mph and ran like a top but ran the gas tank empty and the new fuel injection system and filters had to be cleaned and repaired/replaced. i went to the facility and inquired as to why they didn't replace fuel tank,oil filter before road testing and was told by John that NOW the engine is smoking. I chalked up after $1,000 into this that lets just rebuild the engine at my expense,replace gas tank and sending unit April 15,2019.As of now July 10,2019 have tried to contact John to no avail. My wife and I went to his office July 10,2019 where his secretary could not contact him or give us any information as to parts ordered,where the engine is rebuilt,time frame,looking at vehicle engine is out no new gas tank installed at this time, car sitting outside same place. I recently took my Mercedes to this shop for repair because after owning the car for 12 years, I am tired of the pretentious attitudes and high prices of the dealership service department. API is a great alternative. The people who work at API are familiar with Mercedes cars, have the right tools to service them, and are able to get the right parts. Most importantly, they are friendly and make their customers feel valued. I plan to continue taking my car to API for future service needs!

My Volvo broke down near their station and I had my car towed there for repair. Unfortunately the car was not worth fixing but fortunately I came across a great service station. I've since purchased a used Subaru and have had it there for service and couldn't be happier. Brian Ben and their staff are excellent mechanics and extremely honest. If you are looking for a repair shop don't hesitate to give them a chance you will be very happy. Mark V.

I get four cars serviced at J&L for everything and I have never had a reason to question their ethics, honesty, or workmanship. I have found that there pricing has always been fair and they will look for ways to save you money on parts and they never double dip on labor. That is charging you for the same task twice. For instance if you get your timing belt changed you should also replace your water pump. Most placing will look in the book and charge you labor on each task when in reality labor for removing the belt is loaded into both repairs. J&L will not take advantage of that situation. I am not sure what happened with the review above with the oil change but there is no way in my mind that it could have happened the way she says. Sounds more to me about someone looking for a free repair.
