I can't say enough good things about J & F Motors. I became a customer in 2011 when the warranty on my 2004 BMW 545i ran out. I felt that I couldn't get good answers from BMW dealerships and every time I went in, I didn't feel comfortable with their answers and what I was paying for. I can't say enough positive things about Ty Nguyen's Arlington Auto Shop. I lucked into it about eight years when I was again hit while parking on DC streets. Ty offers personal, reliable service with free estimates. Work is reasonably priced, done on time and is guaranteed. I have recommended his shop to several of my friends and they were equally pleased. We have had several experiences with Spectrum on the insurance side of things, meaning I am an appraiser so I can compare Spectrum to other shops in the area. They are by far the most expensive shop in the area. I do not mean expensive in terms of quality, but in terms of writing unnecessary repair estimates on vehicles. They usually write 40-50% higher estimates than other shops in the area. What customers do not realize is the higher the repair cost on the vehicle the lower the value of the vehicle will be in when they go to sell it. Their business practices are questionable at best. If Spectrum does not get exactly what they want on their estimate they will hold the car hostage until they receive full payment, even if some of the services they provide were not done. They also have a history of keeping the car longer than needed to complete the repairs. An average repair that would take 5 days usually results in a month because of multiple supplement requests and unwillingness to work fairly with the insurance company. We have also received many complaints on the quality of the repairs done and complaints about work not being completely done. As long as Glen Massie is running this shop I would STAY AWAY! Take it from the experts, you do not want to take your car here.
