Automotive City is the number one choice in auto repair here in Grass Valley CA. The business was started in 1967 in San Francisco and purchased by Ken Cook in 2005. We have 4 full-time auto repair mechanics on staff and the lead mechanic is an ASE Master Mechanic and Licensed Smog Technician. Automotive City is a AAA Approved auto repair facility and an accredited member of Better Business Bureau with an A+ Rating since 1998.
Prior to purchasing Automotive City, Ken designed Automotive Test equipment at Hewlett-Packard’s Test and Measurement division in Sunnyvale, CA. Ken’s electronic test and design background gives the business an edge when it comes to today’s cars – integrated electronics and sophisticated controls. Automotive City has the best Service Advisors, Spencer and Ryan (and Ken) and the best mechanics. They are honest and have great prices and they continually update me on the status of our vehicle being serviced in a timely manner. We bring our vehicles to Automotive City in Grass Valley @ Brunswick and Hwy 174 for service (and we live in Penn Valley) and have done so for about 15 years or more. We highly recommend them. 5 Star Service and Staff
My wife and I have taken our cars to Automotive for the past 12 years. They do a very good job, they have reasonable prices, and we have always found them to be fair and honest. They stand by their work and if something is not quite right, they will make it right at no charge. They also give you an honest assessment of what is needed without trying to get you to pay for something you do not need. As well as using them for all of our mechanical work, we also buy our tires through them. If they get out of balance, unlike most other places, they will balance them for free. For almost 30 years we bought our tires at another, well known, local establishment that specializes in tires. On one occasion, the tire place's employee talked me into buying a set of tires that I had not wanted. ("All the Subaru drivers in our area love these tires.") While I was responsible for going along with him, it left a bad taste in my mouth. On another occasion, when I went in first thing in the morning, I saw a daily questionnaire for their sales reps on the counter. The first item was "did you upsell today?" In other words, did you talk a client into buying more than they needed or wanted. The final factor in our switching was when Automotive City fixed a front end problem that the other dealer had been unable to fix. We like Automotive City and we trust them.
