Extorting Money

I truly wish I would have know and read the reviews before I ever dealt with David from Chets. Long story short, I brought my car from there and had nothing but problems with the car. The last straw was when my engine broke down (even though I maintain the oils and fluids). I took it back to Chets to repair and after finding out the final cost, I decided not to do any work to the car. David then tried to sale me a 2002 Hyundai with over 200,000 miles for $8,000!!!. When I found this out, I took my business to someone else. Well, I guess that David was not too happy about this because once he found out, he placed a lien on my car for what he said were fees for work done to my car. Ummm, excuse me, no work was done. He would not let me pick up my car and until payment was received. After going back and forward with him, it was finally decided that he would release my car for a certain amount. (We negotiated the price down from over $900 to a little over $100. This was for the diagnostic fee and what he says is the lien application) My guess was that he knew he was wrong in charging me illegal fees and placing an invalid lien on my car. Well, today, I take the money to him and once I paid him, he told me that he was not going to release the car, proceed to call me a black b----, stuck out his tongue at me and threaten me, all with witness around. I believe he was trying to intimidate me, however, I did not budge. After he realized that I was not leaving without my car he told me that I could take my car and wanted me, a girl, to push the car out of his lot, even though he had a hand full of men that could have assists me. Thank God that his workers are not as vengeful as he is, for they helped me push my car out of his lot. Although, per David instructions, they left it in an area in the street that was a tow away zone. Luckily, I had a tow truck driver meet me there and he was able to tow to car away to a different location so that I can finally sale the car to someon

E-brake cable replacement

DISHONEST, CONDESCENDING, DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR THERE! I wish I could give this business negative stars. I also wish I had seen the previous reviews on other websites (see yelp, google, yellowpages, etc), but I sent my car to Chet's out of necessity. I had no choice but to send my car to Chet's as I was out of state and needed a repair (E-brake cable) in order to get the car shipped and they were the only nearby place that was open. Chet's knew they could take advantage of my situation and they did, all the while treating me with disrespect and lack of courtesy (especially the owner). They charged me over $350 for $60 in parts that they could get at the local O'Reilly's (an e-brake cable, come on!) , they took over a week to do a 1-hour repair which cost $100, and they charged me twice the original estimate with NO discussion on an increase in cost until final payment and I had to get the car shipped that day. I also needed my car transferred back to the pier, and they charged me $175 to drive it less than 2 miles after telling me on the phone that it would only be $125. I am a military guy just trying to get my car to my new home, and they royally screwed me and were totally dishonest. DON"T TAKE YOUR CAR THERE--they lack integrity, they abuse their position, and they should be embarrassed of their service.
