John J. Placzkowski Jr., the founder of Clay County Transmission had an idea. An idea that is not very common in the automotive repair industry: Quality work at a fair price. So in June of 1988, John and his wife Michelle began as a locally owned and operated business providing top quality transmission repair. In the transmission industry for more than 25 years, John began as a swamper (sweeping floors and cleaning up) in the 1970's. With a playpen in the office and his knowledge of the transmission business, John and Michelle started what has become one of the largest and most reputable transmission businesses in Northeast Florida

Tranmission overhaul
I had my Dakota trans overhauled at this shop and have nothing but shifting problems despite bringing it back 3 times it's still was not right! Got tired of dealing with the rude manager and took it to another shop to make it right. Never again.

Car Repair
I really love these guys, they are extremely honest and thorough. If you want some cheap half assed work done, dont come here, they want to do it right. The prices are reasonable, and the work is very professional. Anytime I have asked them to look as something they have, not only that but they show me what they have found and explain it a language I can understand. Cant stress enough how honest and professional they are. I already have recommended them to a few people, and will continue to rave about them to anyone with car troubles.

Transmission Repair
This was hands down the best experience we have ever had with a mechanic period! Tony and his team are communicative, pleasant, and professional. They also were very reasonable in terms of costs (saved us 2k over the dealer) and really know what they are doing. They fixed my fiancé's transfer case and took the time to show us why it broke because of another shop putting in an incorrect part which stands to allow us to recoup financially from the other shop. They took my calls over the weekend so I could shop for a cheaper part directly instead of a whole specialized axle. They took us for a test drive when it was done and scheduled a follow up check. Great team!! You have our transmission business anytime and our referral for anyone who will listen.
