Did a great job getting my tire fixed on an extremely busy day

In the last thirty days in Marion and Carbondale Illinois are two locations my 2007 Tacoma as been serviced. The services rendered was performed good not excellent. For the following reasons. My wiper blades require two different sizes, the ones installed are not. When my tires where mounted I requested lug nuts to be replaced and the idiot light to be reset because of temperature change ( Marion store ). This store informed me my lugs didn’t fit and my light would work it’s way out down the road. Oh, by the way my brakes are in the RED! So I made an appointment with the Carbondale store for my brakes. Before I brought my truck to Carbondale I replaced my lugs my self and could not reset my tire low indicator light before my appointment at the Carbondale store. The Carbondale store not only didn’t notice the difference in the lug nuts when serving my brakes but informed me my truck computer is receiving dual signals from my wheels. This is why my indicator light will not shut off. In addition to correct this defect it will cost me another $460.000 (Est) . Why did my indicator work before? No here’s what I don’t get. I’m a retired fleet manager ASE certified, auto/ diesel retired mechanic with over forty years experience in this industry. I believe Marion busted one of my valve stems.

When I was 18 years old (young and dumb) I bought a set of tires and didn't get the warranty 1 month later I had a blow, plaza told me if I would have gotten the warranty that it would have been covered, I bought the warranty then and plaza covered the tire, plaza is the only place that I buy tires or rims because they take car of your needs so give them your business and you will see.

I had a problem with the emergency brake on my Traverse and took it to my shop, Plaza Tire in Carbondale. As always, they quickly diagnosed the issue, tracing it to a a cable and caliper. The repair was quick and affordable, and I was back on the road quickly. It’s easy to recommend this shop and I do!

Had an alignment done in Murphysboro and my car was pulling to the right afterward. I took it to Carbondale and had it checked before going on vacation and they found the passenger rear and driver side front to be out of alignment. Fixed it right up for me and it drove great on our 1600 mile round trip vacation.

Delivered our 2014 Honda Accord for oil change and brake inspection. The technician identified a wheel bearing failure we did not know about. The bearing was replaced, the brakes fixed and the car is running in perfect condition. We are grateful the serious safety issued was indentified and addressed.

I needed an oil change, and they did a great job. The staff is very respectful and want to help their customers in any way they can. Only potential issue: I had windshield wiper fluid in my car before my oil change, but, afterwards, I had none. I believe my receipt indicated a fluids check, so I was a little confused by this. Just a note about the low fluid would have been nice. Nonetheless, the oil change was great and appropriately priced, and I was very happy with the service.

Instead of trying to sell me something i didn't need, they gave me accurate information about the level of wear on my current tires and helped me plan for when to get new ones. My car was making a terrible grating sound. I made an appointment and they discovered the issue which they patiently and thoroughly explained to me. I’ve been having issues with a back up light and they were able to find the problem in no time, provide me with a temporary fix until a part is available and a permanent solution. They were a big help and were able to squeeze me in within two hours of calling to inquire about an appointment.

I drive by Plaza in Carbondale almost every day and they are always busy - even when the weather is bad - and it's easy to understand why : they have excellent service ! The new tires I got are rolling along fine , and I believe that if there was any problem with them , it would be remedied the same day . Wish I had got the previous set of tires from Plaza .

Needed a flat fixed. Tires rotated and oil change. I have the warranty for my tires I purchased from Plaza Tire, so no charge to fix the flat and rotate the tires. I had a 10.00 off coupon from a mailing. So my conventional oil change was less than 30.00. The waiting room was adequate (though the tv on the football channel was not great). The wait time was long, 3 hours but they were short staffed and my car had rust on the frame so they didn’t lift it to do the work. The Manager was happy about his work and did a nice job. Every other worker I interacted with was also polite and informative.

I came in later in the day on a Friday for an unscheduled 4 wheel alignment. They got me right in and taken care of. Very happy with the service.

We were using a spare so we left our rim and they had the new tire mounted within a couple of hours and called us as soon as they were done. My experience at Plaza Tire Service 12 was great. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly. Even though it was very busy when I came back to pick up my vehicle, the employee who completed my transaction had a smile on his face and was very efficient.

Went in for 100K service; told the guy ALL the stuff that needs done. Fast forward a few weeks; car scraping on speed bumps. I call Plaza Tire and they say “…maybe it’s springs / suspension. Usually at 100k miles, the springs wear out on your type vehicle. Bring it in next week so we can take a look at it”. ?? What? No thanks.

My car had a nail in it and started losing air. There was a repair place close by and they told me I needed a new tire and it couldn't be patched. I called Plaza, where I got my tires, and they said I needed to get my tire there for it to be under the same warranty as my other tires. I went into Plaza, and an hour later they told me they were able to patch it, and with my protection plan I didn't owe anything! I saved over $100, and I was thrilled! The new location is really nice also :)

Went in for a four tire appointment and was informed they had sold the tires I requested so they upgraded me free of charge. The manager on duty was amazing and knowledgeable and made my experience pleasant. Plaza tire has a customer for life!!!

The technicians were able to fit my car into their schedule although I was a walk-in customer and had my tire leak fixed within 2 hours of my arrival. Some may say that is a long time to wait given the issue, but since I was a walk-in I understand they are very busy; I'm just glad it got fixed same-day. And it didn't cost me over $30! I will be returning next time I need anything fixed on my vehicle.

I bought three new tires. Only because you had sold me defected tires. My tires were coming apart on the outer wall. The tread was still good. Left there with different pressure in each tire. Whereas they are all supposed to have the same pressure. Very disappointed in that. After getting home I read that my car did not pass aliment. They didn't even bother to tell me. I have aliment protection. It should have been aligned before I left. In my opinion you have workers that don't know a thing about tires. Furthermore, a couple of weeks ago I had my oil changed by your company. Checked my oil and they didn't even change it. It was black as coal. I am extremely disappointed in your company. What are you going to do about this? I want to hear back from you.

Plaza Tires was recommended . So I gave them a chance my first time purchasing tires from them. I must say Kendall and the Team were very professional and the customer service top notch. Oil change was business as usual. I had my rear drum brakes replaced about a month ago, but they wouldn't stop squealing. I figured they may just need some wearing in but the squealing grew worse over time so I asked if they'd take a look while it was in for the oil. They did the oil change, and checked the brakes. Removed any dust from the drum... and the brakes were still squealing. They took a look at the brakes again, took it for a test drive, cycle repeated several times. I waited for a few hours. While I was there, there were several other customers and it seemed really busy. Truly, I was impressed by how thorough they were in trying to fix the brake issue over and over again on top of being so busy. In the end, they deemed the parts faulty and had to call in a warranty replacement. They didn't charge me for the brake replacement since the part was bad. I was absolutely blown away by the level of customer service. The time, attention, care, and communication were all top notch. I truly appreciate all of the staff.

This was my first "come back" service and it was as expected. I really like the professional attitude from Kendall and he was the one to ask me about my oil change of which I was about to go back to Valvoline down the street to sit in line to do. His asking convinced me to schedule it with my rotation and balance to save me time. I arrived a few minutes prior to my scheduled time and saw they were very busy- I chose to go across the street to a restaurant to wait for my vehicle. I was pleasantly surprised it was not as long as the expected 1.5 hours they had told me it might be and the cost was within reason of a full synthetic. The saving grace for this review is that the person I dealt with was very friendly otherwiseit would be a 1 star. I took my car in for shocks and struts. They ran into a problem but seemed confident they could fix it. They had to keep my car overnight which was totally fine. However 1 hr after I picked my car up I went to leave for a doc appointment and there was a terrible metal noise so I stopped and was going to turn around but the noise stopped so I went to the doctor because it was an important doctor's appointment. Literally the next day my car was feeling almost as bad as when I took it in. It is especially bad in my front passenger tire. I wasn't going to complain or say anything but I paid 1300 dollars for the most shoddy work I've ever had on my car. Now I have to take it to another mechanic to see what the damage is and spend MORE money to see what was messed up.

They did an inspection for me at the same time and agreed there was something off. After getting a flat tire in my rental car, I called Thrifty so see about it getting fixed. Within 5 minutes they called me back and sent me to Plaza tire! It's not the biggest on the block but they are the best! They had my car in within 5 minutes of arriving (no appointment) determined I needed a new tire and had me on the road in 30 minutes! Good experience. I had a blow out on one wheel and I was able to bring in the individual wheel to have a new tire mounted. It took only a few minutes and I was out the door. I have been a past customer of Plaza Tires. This time was an emergency:a blown -out tire and poorli inflated spare. The staff at Plaza took it in immediately, sold me a new one that was close to the tires already on the car (though I was surprised that this store did not have Bridgestone tires) at a reasonable cost, filled the spare and put the jack and other tools back in place. The service was swift, efficient and friendly as it has been in the past. BUT, BUT...none of the staff wore facemasks, did not practice social distancing and did not wipe down the interior where staff members had been. The state and region are in a high level COVID emergency and the city this Plaza Tires store is in requires facemasks and proper distancing for all personel. Not taking precautions to protect customers and fellow workers are just irresponsible acts. For myself, a senior, I have had recent heart surgery and am on medications that lower my immunity levels. I'm just hoping that the Plaza staff were all COVID free. I like the service at Plaza Tires but do not think that I can safely shop there again. Hence the poor rating.

Managers at the checkout/front desk were laughing about overcharging customers and adding higher priced items to get more money. I was really shocked because I have used this Plaza Tire Service in Carbondale for years, but I moved about 20-30 minutes away within the last year so I went to another one that was closer to home most often. I know managment changed at the Carbondale location, but service was terrible. They were rude to customers over the phone, constantly making errors on pricing on customer's invoices, and excusing it as simple mistakes or computer error. It wasn't until I heard them comment that they couldn't "pull that one over on another customer" that I realized they were ripping people off. Of course, they tried the same with me. I had to make them show me their record on the computer because they were saying my car needed something replace that was just done months prior and were claiming one of my tires wasn't purchased with them. They couldn't get away with it when we looked on their system together, but they tried it with multiple other customers and succeeded within the time I was waiting on my car. They realized at a certain point that I had overheard them too, so they stopped standing by the desk and stayed in the garage area with the other mechanics. It honestly was a really intimidating and uncomfortable experience. I will never be going again, not matter what rates or deals they have!

Terrific service! Probably need to add another star to the 5 star rating. I had an appointment to check on a slow leak in one tire. They found 2 small nails, and Kendall (the manager) told me I qualified for a new replacement under the tire protection program that I had purchased 30,000 miles ago. Pro-rated - this was a savings of $110.00. Fast forward another hour or so and 20 miles of driving, and I picked up a large screw in the brand new tire (while at a local lumber yard). Fortunately I only had to drive a mile back to Plaza Tire, and they could hear the clicking and easily see part of the screw sticking out of the tire. Richard McPherson made the repair, and I was on my way in about an hour. No charge. Tire protection program. Thank you, Plaza Tire, Kendall and Richard. Like I said: "Terrific service."

I buy my tires at Walmart because they include free balance and rotation every 7500 miles and when they tell me I need an alignment I know they are telling the truth because they don't do alignments so there is no incentive to lie about it. The Walmart technician told me my Mini Cooper needed an alignment so I took it to a shop that I won't name and they told be my rear wheels needed alignment but that it was not adjustable on my car so I would need a camber kit installed and it would cost between $600 and $800. I did some research on the internet and found out that my 2012 Mini has adjustable rear alignment so I told them thanks but no thanks. I then called Eddie's because they specialize in European Autos and they said they don't do alignments and recommended Plaza. Plaza did a front end alignment and said my rear wheels were fine and did not need aligning.

I had a warranty on the tires but they said the tire could not be repaired because the hole was too close to the side wall. I got a new tire at a prorated price and had to pay for installing it about $50 in the end. Not too bad but not what I expected. I wonder about the value of the warranty. I would have thought I would pay the prorated price for a new tire but then get the installing it (balance, install, etc.) as part of the warranty. I've just had bad luck with holes in tires recently.

The service we received was well. the purpose of the visit was poor. Our tires were cold welded on, and our lugs were tightened to the point they were unable to be loosened by hand with a breaker bar, likely due to being impacted down, not tightened to torque. When mentioning this to the representative at Plaza Tire I received the slightly condescending "that is normal" speech. The person changing the flat tire on the side of the road was a vehicle mechanic in the USAF (2T371), and can attest to the level of abnormality in which the lugs to the tire were tightened, and rim cold welded; specifically how unsafe and difficult it became to change a flat tire on the side of the road. Plaza tire acquiesced my request to remove the remaining 3 tires to check and verify what I was describing, and they confirmed the remaining tires were in the same condition, but again dismissed the incompetent installation by stating the removal of those tires was normal. The service provided was good. The customer interaction was friendly. However, it needs to be reminded that impacting the lugs down, then checking them with torque defeats the torque force; you will get a false positive reading of torque. The torque for lug nuts is designed by engineers to allow for the proper friction force to prevent lugs loosening or completely removing themselves during travel, but allows for the removal in emergency situations without specialized tools; IE you shouldn't require an impact, lift, and 60oz handheld sledge for removal.

My headlights are always set to automatic. Two days after my car was serviced I was driving after dark on a rainy night. I thought it was a dark night, but didn't realize my headlights were off until I had driven several blocks and was out on the highway. I could have had an accident! Your people must have turned my lights off and did not tell me. That is very dangerous! Please don't do that again!

I've had several vehicles serviced over the years at Plaza in Carbondale Il. I took my Escape for brake work. I expected I would need new brakes all around. Kelly & the guys always do great work, but this time, they did the wrong tire rotation. I have 2 sizes taller tires on the rear. Instead of rotating the new spare with the front tires, they put the rears on front. Oddly enough, it handles ok, so i didn't notice for a while.
