head replacement

I called after being recommended from a work associate to have him work on my BMW. It took him a week to diagnose the problem (broke the timing chain and bent the valves). After this he says he has to eemove the head and send it off to be machined. It took him another week of only showing up part time to get the head off and get it to Schmidt automotive on the east side of Indy (which is an who ended up repairing Sparks mistakes). Once the head got back it took about a week and a half for him to get it back on my car. I got a call while at work that my car was finished so as soon as I got home I hopped into it and started it up and it sounded funny, put it in gear and it stalls time and time again. I call Sparks and tell him what's going on and he blames it on me! Says I must have broke it again pulling out of a parking space!! I tell him he has a warranty and he refuses to honor any of the warranty!!!! He then curses at me over and over telling me that I messed it up. I gave him a day and called back to see what he planned on doing to fix this and he just curses at me again! I called Schmidt to come pick the car up and lete know what's wrong and how much it's going to cost to fix it... Turns out that Sparks is an idiot and installed the head with a the valves open and my #6 cylinder at TDC!!!!! He just torqued the head on and forced it on damaging both the piston and re-bending my brand new valves! I called him again with the report from Schmidt telling him that the mechanics agreed that the only way this could have possibly happened was from improper installation... Sparks cursed at me again and refused to do anything about it. Stay away from this guy at all cost! I ended up paying out for the repair twice costing over $4k. USE A REPUTABLE MECHANIC!!!

Replace Park Lock-Out Mechanism

I called Sparks Automotive to inquire if I could have someone come to our home to replace a park lock-out mechanism on our car. The car would not come out of park and would have required a tow to the dealership or mechanic. Mr. Sparks came to our home and within 2 hours had the part replaced and car back in service. Mr. Sparks was prompt and efficient. Would definitely recommend his service.

Brake/Caliper Repair

While on our way to Wisconsin in our RV we had what we though were brake issues, which we thought had been fixed by our now-former mechanic. Mr. Sparks was able to come to us, explain what he was doing, and get us back on the road in less than 3 hours. He included both of us in his discussions and then took us on a test-drive to be sure we were ready for the road. His prices are more than fair and his customer service? Well, the man called us later that night just to check on us. I can honestly say no other mechanic has ever done that! Thank you, Mr. Sparks...you literally saved our vacation!

Fuel pump and power problems.

Mr. Sparks showed up a few minutes early (it's rare for anybody to even show up on time these days!) and I appreciate him being prompt. He has a pleasant demeanor and got right to work in diagnosing the problem. Found a solution and got my 1995 Jeep Cherokee going in no time without breaking my bank. Quality work and very professional. Everyone cringes when thinking about finding a mechanic they can trust...and I did until today. It is refreshing to meet an honest craftsman. I will not hesitate to call him again in the future. Super job! James Rice, Indianapolis

front brake replacement

Icalled Sparks on Saturday and asked him what he would charge me to replace brakes on my 2001 Blazer. He gave me the price and I thought is was a fair price. So asked him to do it, he said he was stuck in Greenbay, but would come out on Sunday and replace my brakes. I told him I needed to leave by 3:30pm he said no problem! He called when he was enroute and said he was 45 minutes away, a half hour later he arrived and had the whole brake job done in less than an hour. Even with me watching and trying to learn something. He was very prompt and professional. I would definetly hire him again. His truck was defiently a hit with my 3 year old son and most of the other neighborhood kids and adults as well

Transmission repair

We rented a Cruise America RV to travel down to Louisville to witness the Kentucky Derby. On our return trip to Milwaukee, the extension housing on the rear of the transmission which houses the drum style parking brake assembly exhausted it's oil supply and the bearings began to sieze up causing the vehicle to shake aggressively and make a horrendous noise. The rental company put us in contact with Mr Sparks who vacated his Sunday plans to lend assistance was very helpful. After disassembly, we relized the damaged bearings and housing rendered the situation helpless for the day due to parts availability. The staff at Cruise America was not very helpful to say the least. They wanted us to spend the entire duration of the repair stranded in central Indiana but we all had jobs and had to return that night. Mr Sparks graciously took us to the Indianapolis Airport to get a rental vehicle big enough to haul the 7 of us and luggage back to Milwaukee. We can't speak to the finalizing of the repair as that would be for Cruise America but Sparks exemplified the talent necessary to accomplish the job. Excellent job. Jerry and friends

Replaced alternator and belt

Mr Sparks came out to the Auto Zone at 38th & Moller Road last week and replaced my alternator in my Cadillac DeVille. The alternator is on the bottom if you can believe it. I watched Mr Sparks replace the part. He had some colorful language and choice words for the design engineers. After about an hour and a half, the job was done and my battery was back to charging as it should. Thanks to the man at the counter who had known to give me the number of this great mobile mechanic service. A job well done. Martha Jackson-Wells
