In 1969, two brothers and their close friend decided to leave their roots in eastern Kentucky and move to Louisville to build a better life and a brighter future. This dream began with pairing a small business loan and their expertise on Volkswagon repair. They rented a space from an existing auto shop and their vision for St. Matthews Imports was born. Their success in automotive repair in Louisville grew and quickly established a reputation for the city’s top choice for high-quality repair.
Today, more than 45 years later, the St. Matthews Imports brand has grown to four locations with expertise in auto repair, collision, and marine repair and sales. We continue to be a family-owned and operated company with the second generation in full control of business operations. We provide a full range of diagnostic and repair services at competitive prices for both import and domestic vehicles to help ensure long-term strong performance and safety. We are proud to carry on the St. Matthews Imports brand, growing the vision these three young men from eastern Kentucky had four decades ago.

The biggest concern is trust that you are treated fair and so far. I feel okay about that. I always think you all do a good job and I like dealing with local people. For over 30 years and 5 cars (starting with a '71 VW) I've been satisfied with St. Matthews Imports. Knowledgable, helpful and good work along with being truthful about what needs to be done and not. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

This is the best BMW repair shop in the Louisville area. Their staff is very experienced and they are up to date using the BMW Technical Information service. For people new to the area, I would recommend this shop without hesitation.

Great Customer Service
I was in a car accident and needed my rear bumper fixed. St. Matthews did a great job in streamlining the service: the women at the front desk were friendly, helpful and kept me informed throughout the process. I scheduled a time to drop off the vehicle, and by 4pm the work was done and I could even leave my rental car there instead of having to return it to the actual rental car place. They worked with my insurance company and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing collision repair. thanks SMI! Mark Lericos
