Auto-lab of Canton South began business on July 1, 2008. Joe Alli, the owner was new to the auto repair business. It was his second career. His vision was to create a business where he would feel comfortable if his wife or daughters brought their vehicles for service. He wanted a friendly environment where people enjoyed doing business, and where employees enjoyed working. Quality repairs at a fair and consistent price would be the rule.
Today Joe spends lots of time at the shop and enjoys dealing with customers.

Engine Control Module
This review is for Auto Center of Canton which I presume is the new name for this shop. I drove my 2000 Volvo S80 to get it diagnosed because the engine kept missing even after new parts were replaced. This took place on October 16th of 2019 and all I've been getting about this problem is the runaround from a mechanic named Rich. Initially I was told that the engine may need to be replaced with a price tag of $2700.00. I went out to the shop to put half of the deposit for the engine and then was told that the engine was fine, but it was the engine control module that was in need of repairs. Instead of Rich contacting me of the status of the module, I've had to keep calling and then Rich never calls back when he says. It's been over a month of waiting and this is unacceptable as my wife needs to be cared for and taken to her oncologist for cancer treatments at U of M hospital. At this point and right now, I want my car back with the original module and my $500.00 since nothing but waste time has been done. I caution anyone considering this place for repairs as they are just monkeying around and wasting people's time and money.

AC service
I would give them ZERO stars if I could. I have to start off by saying that I usually don't leave negative reviews because most of the time it doesn't do any good but this time I feel like i have to. I took my car in on August 19, 2016 because my car was making a funny noise. They said my compressor was bad & I had to replace it. So I did, invoice # 160819007, & it cost $876.21 for parts and labor. About a month later I was checking my oil and saw that the bolts securing my refrigerant lines were missing so I took it back and they found some and secured the lines. Now, I have moved to Florida for work and my car is again making the same noise and my ac is blowing hot. I took it in to a local auto ac shop & they said the compressor, that I had Auto-Lab replace, was very old & had failed and not only that, one of the mounting screws was not all the way in because it was stripped. So I need a new compressor. I contacted Auto-Lab corporate office since I'm not in Michigan anymore three times over the period of one month and no one returned my emails. Very, very disappointed in both the quality of the work and the outcome. Will never do business with this franchise again.

Oil Change
Used a free coupon in the mail during the holidays. Service was for 5 qts of oil free with the free oil change. They charged me for 2 additional quarts. It wasn't until I drove off and about 35 minutes later my engine was making noise. Found out that they never put the oil back into the car. What idiots.

Auto Repair
I highly recommend Auto-Lab in Canton to anyone! They are friendly, their location is very clean and well maintained. Their service is outstanding and very fairly priced. I thought I needed new tires and they could have sold me a whole new set. But instead, they said that my tires were in good shape still and they helped extend their life. That is the type of honest service that is rare. I had a few additional repairs made and they were done quickly and they gave me a loaner car for free! Also, they have great coffee!
