I brought my car to the Smiley Lane Plaza shop and asked them to fix the mistakes that the downtown shop made. The downtown shop didn't torque the lug nuts on my car correctly, and the wheel almost flew off on the highway going to St. Louis. I got to St. Louis having lost 2 lug nuts, and the other 3 so loose I could turn them with my fingers. I tightened the lugs nuts that remained in the parking lot of the airport, and found the nearest auto parts store to replace the 2 that had fallen off. The Smiley Lane store checked the torque on all my wheels, and checked the tire for wear for free. I have a life-time alignment for that car so I expected them to do the alignment for free, but I can tell you that the car drove noticably better after did the alignment. In addition, I asked them to reimburse me for the lug nuts I bought. This was only $8 dollars and didn't break the bank, but I felt I shouldn't have needed to buy them. It was really an integrity test, which the manager passed.He reimbursed my costs in cash. He was willing to fix the problems caused by another shop free of charge, and without complaints. I really appreciated that.

Went to get some new tires, made 2 appts, both times was told to come back because they were very busy. On the 3rd time, I spoke with the manager and my tires were done. He apologized and I was in and out. After having the tires on for less than a week, we noticed the tire sensor wasn't reading the tire pressure. So I called in made an appt to get it checked and fixed. My husband arrives at the appt 10 mins late and checks in. The lady behind the counter says we gotta start getting some of these cars outta here. The heavy set white guy says well if they don't like it they can leave and come back another time. There were a 2 other ppl there & my husband. Of course that is offensive to my husband and I because we are choosing your company to service our tires. You don't treat customers that way. Customer service is huge for us. We are spending our hard earned money at your company. Your not doing it for free. We aren't asking for any favors, we are just asking to fix our sensor that was working perfect before our tires were changed. Please have your employees show better customer service and better customer appreciation. Checking people in and out deals with a lot of people, your main job is customer service. 3 out of 4 of my visits were horrible, with the exception of when I talked with the manager. We bought the lifetime bells and whistles with the tire change. I really hope all my future encounters are different from the past ones.

We had an unexpected problem that popped up and we were unable to drive the car at any speed over 20 mph. We brought the car in and left it and with 24 hours that had identified the issues and provided an estimate, we approved the estimate with with a few hours after that the car was report and running well. We expected a few day at least due to how busy they are on a regular basis, but we are well satisfied. Good work.

I along with my 99 yrs young grandma love and trust the team at Plaza Tire on Smiley Lane. They not only service and do repairs on my car, but also on my grandma's very old van that is retrofitted for grandma's wheelchair. It was just another oil change service with state inspection added on top. I knew it wouldn't pass because my parking brake light wouldn't shut off on my F-150. the Tech changed the oil and did the inspection and the only keeping it from passing was indeed the E-brake/parking brake light not turning off. They looked at everything they could think of and the E-brake itself was functioning properly, just the light staying on. They didn't charge me for diagnosing the light problem but told me they couldn't fix it. after searching online, I found out it was a short in the instrument cluster causing the issue. Plaza Tire off Grindstone always does good work and doesn't charge for unnecessary work.

In September I wrote a rather scathing review of Plaza Tire as a result of an run-of-the mill oil change that turned into a large leak all over my garage and driveway. Plaza Tire not only replaced the oil plug, oil pan and the oil at no charge BUT when I wrote them about the damage that occurred the Manager, Chris Mayfield called me immediately and made arrangements to mediate the problem the next day. He brought two people with him to clean the oil in the garage and called in a pressure washing company to clean the the driveway. I was very impressed by the immediacy of Mr. Mayfield's response and the extent to which he went to fix the problem. The company's CEO, Mike Rhodes is quoted as saying "If a customer has a reasonable request of what it will take to make him or her happy, we do it”. I can attest to the veracity of that philosophy Rarely do businesses go the extra mile to the extent that Plaza Tire did for me and I will certainly be doing business with them again in the near future.

For 28 years I have brought my family's five cars to the Plaza Tire service downtown. I bought a LOT of tires over the years. Many many. And previously under earlier management was 1000% happy Now the downtown folks, no longer wish to do anything other than sell tires. Weeks to get an appointment for an oil change. So I called around: I will be taking my car to the Smiley Lane store from now on. They are the best. They are super busy and friendly; yet fit me in the day I called. Oil change, Safety check for a long trip. Adjusted tire pressure. Took back old tires I had kept at home. Smiley Lane folks are now to me what the downtown store USED to be. Simply the best. Dropped off a tire for repair and left my number to contact me. 4 1/2 hours later I came back. They said tire was not repairable, but did not call me so I could tell them to just replace it. They mounted a new tire while I waited. I was billed $5 for a nitrogen fill that I DID NOT WANT OR ASK FOR. The owner of that Plaza posted a reply to my Google Maps review. You can find it there. The reply was so full of misrepresented truth that I felt obligated to update my review. UPDATE. UPDATE. UPDATE Ok. You could have just owned the problem without making false and misleading excuses. Let's get this CORRECT. You were not too busy to get to my tire. You ADMITTEDLY lost track of it. Don't lie. About the refused refund. Did you really expect me to spend 60 miles and $15 in fuel to pick up a $5 refund. Let's get real there. In lieu of a refund i simply asked that you tell your customers before before charging them for a $5 Nitrogen fill. Now your potential customers have the whole story.

Went back and saw avail. @ their other location 7 miles away so went there (Grindstone pkwy). When car was ready the price was almost $100 more than quoted. They added tire ins and nitrogen fill to tires. I took ins but not the nitrogen additive which is a scam for th average driver. First said additional charge for insurance was labor. After I left I noticed three of the tires didn’t have stem caps on. Sloppy and guesswork dealing with customer. I had put in an appointment request on January 17th in the very early morning hours for an oil change and tire rotation at the Smiley Ln location in Columbia MO for 10 AM on January 19th. I received a confirmed appointment email the same day at 10:23 AM. On January 19th, I called the Smiley Ln location to let them know I would be a few minutes late. It was then that I was informed that my appointment was not confirmed and wasn't even on the books. I was a bit stunned since my appointment had been confirmed just two days prior. I asked if I was able to schedule the appointment for that day anyway and was told no. They offered to reschedule my appointment for the following day, January 20th, at 3 PM. I initially accepted, but after sitting and thinking on it, I won't be keeping the appointment and will be taking my business elsewhere. The man I talked to overall was understanding of my frustration. If you plan to request an appointment online, don't. Either call or take your business elsewhere.

It took two visits to properly diagnose & remedy the cause of a tire’s slow leak. On my first visit, the valve stem was questioned, but never confirmed. On the second visit corrosion on the “wheel rim” was blamed & polished. (A remark was made that the tire in question had to be immersed in a water tank, to determine the location of the leak, as it was so slow~routine?) The tire technician failed to return my locking lug nut key to my cup holder, where I had placed it for his convenience. The tire technician also over inflated two of 4 tires, (I checked them before I left the store). One tire was over 40+ psi and the other over 50+ psi. Before coming to the store I assured each tire had the vehicle’s manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure (located on the door jam), of 33psi COLD before any driving. When I brought up my concerns to the front counter manager, he just called the tire technician up & had me talk to him & walked away. All I got from the tire technician was a (deers in the head lights) response.

Every time I go to this store it is something. I applied for a credit card this time and got new tires. I was told by the first person I was approved then when I was checking out it was almost an hour of my time wasted due to incompetent employees, the credit card customer service person had a disrespectful attitude and attempted to tell me where I lived which is unacceptable. I am at the point where I should start sending the store manager a bill for my time that him and his employees waste. Larry Adkins is not helpful and talks down to women which in this day and age is inappropriate. There hasn't been a time I come into this store where they don't find other issues with my vehicle however when I follow up with a mechanic afterwards there isn't actually an issue. They just want to "fix" something to get more money. This particular visit the person checking me out was too lazy to read my file and see what I had previously paid for and attempted to over charge me nearly $200. The service is absolutely terrible. I was in a bind and the guys at Plaza Tire on Smiley Lane helped me out tremendously. Chris was really nice and patient enough to talk to me over the phone multiple times to help me out and when I finally got my car towed to them, he was the exact same way in person. I went in early in the morning to have my tires rotated and balanced. The service was quick. However, when I arrived home I noticed my tires had not actually been rotated. I called back and was asked to bring the car back so they could properly rotate my tires. They explained that they had mistakenly put the tires back in the same spots when they had taken them off to balance them. Again, service was quick when I returned, and my tires were actually rotated this time. I was not offered any consolation, though the service was fairly cheap to begin with ($23.95), since I was using a discount code located on their website. Had to make three separate appointments to get 2 parts put in. The third time they told me it was fixed and I'm still having the same issues.

We had a coolant leak which turned out to be a split in the bottom of the radiator & the air conditioning compressor (which had failed under warranty) had a seal that was leaking. Chris replaced the radiator, warrantied out the compressor (Thank You Chris) and then put everything back together. My wife drove the vehicle home and it died twice on her within the 3 mile trip home at stop signs. She said her "Check Engine" and "TCS" lights were illuminated. I looked under the hood and saw the Mass Air Flow sensor had not been connected which I re-connected. I also saw transmission fluid leaking from the bottom of the radiator. I took the car back and Chris immediately looked at it and told me an "O" ring had been pinched. He fixed it immediately and I was back on the road.

I needed tires on my truck that day and Larry the man at the front desk was very nice with his service by getting me the best price on the set and financing. When I arrived he got my truck right in to start getting the tires put on my truck. When I left the low pressure light was on and one of the techs told me it would go off. It did not so I went back the next day and also noticed two of my valve stem caps was left off. The young man that fixed the problem was very nice and took care of that problem. The next day I noticed one of my center caps was missing, so I went back again to the shop to have it put on my wheel but they could not find it. I now have to go back again because they have to order one for my truck. Overall I am very satisfied with the tires and Larry and his front desk staff, but I feel the techs in the shop area needs to really double check their work. By going back again that will be my 5th trip on this set of tires. I need a lower ball joint on my truck that I was going to let them fix, but now I am having second thoughts on that service. I had an appointment set up for first thing Saturday morning on 9/18/20. I had called several days prior to set up the appointment and talked to Travis. He was very helpful and gave me a good price quote on a Falken tire. Upon my arrival at 7:30am Saturday I dealt with a different person and was now quoted a price for the Falken tire $81 more per tire than the original quote. It doubled in price so I had to change to a different brand to afford the tire purchase. I left the car with them and at 2 pm I still hadn’t been contacted about my car. 6 1/2 hours later I call them and they tell me the car was just going in for service. I was the second person in the door at 7:30. Long story short I never received another call of completion so I just showed up a closing at 4:30. I was able to talk to Travis and he did take 10% off the bill, but it was not enough to make me return as a customer again. I have 2 more vehicles needing tires by the end of the year. I will be taking my business else where. (Update) I did receive a customer service call about the incident and explained what happened. The representative apologized for the situation, which was nice, but I then told him that my tire pressure sensor went off the next day and one wheel had a valve stem that was 3 times longer than the other 3. He offered to replace the valve stem if I brought the car and in again. I will return the car for this, but will never give them my business again after that. Sad, because I try my best to support local business owners.

I went to pick up my car and pay my bill. I was quoted a price and I asked to see the bill. I looked at it and it was a bit confusing. It was higher than I expected. I asked if I received a warranty on the battery like I was told on the phone. The guy at the desk said he needed to talk to the mechanic. The mechanic said he did not need to replace battery, so the guy at the desk went back to the computer and modified the bill to reflect this. The bill came out to be $200 less which I promptly paid. Had I not asked to look at the bill, no one would have been the wiser and I'd be out $200. I have no complaints about the work.

I brought my car in for alignment. Following the "alignment" it pulled sharply to the right and was much worse than before I had brought it in. The steering wheel was also clearly off center. I brought it back in and supposedly they made some adjustments, however it is still pulling sharply to the right and they only had my car a few minutes so I question whether anything was done. I really feel like I spent $80 for nothing, as my car now drives worse than before I brought it in. I can't think of too many other types of services where you would pay for a service that was seemingly not rendered. If they could not properly align the car, then I shouldn't have been charged and I could have gone elsewhere. The only reason I gave two stars is that the people were friendly enough and the location was clean.

Another local shop said that the alternator was bad and gave me a huge quote to replace it. Plaza looked at it and immediately identified that the battery was bad and that makes the alternator test bad. They put in a new battery, flushed the power steering pump and had me back on the road in no time. For a fraction of the cost. The alternator tested perfectly after the new battery was installed.

It was Monday afternoon, I got off the highway and heard a bad scraping sound coming from rear wheel. I pulled into Plaza Tire, which I have dealt with for years and they checked my car right away having never seen this car before, I just bought it in Sept. I called on Wednesday morning and asked if I could get the tires put on that afternoon, they told me to come on in after I got done running my route. They got me in and out in under an hour. I told them no because I had to go to work. I was the last customer to leave, even though those who came in AFTER me had left BEFORE me, and the job wasn't complete. Very poor customer service. Tire needed new studs and lug nuts because tire came loose and wore them. Left truck overnight so they could order in parts. Two hours after it was supposed to be done we called to check on the status and they said we needed to leave it another night because they messed up a stud and had to order another one. Couldn't leave it overnight again picked it up and attempted to bring it back the next day, was told they couldn't get to it until Tuesday of the following week unless we left it. My husband took it back in two days later to get them to finish it before we had to drive out of town and they hadn't even ordered the part they messed up. They were extremely rude to him and didn't want to fix it. Will never go back!

My local auto supplier and service station had put me off for more than a week so I noticed the 'Quick change" sign as I drove by the Smiley Lane Plaza Tire Service 20. I thought that maybe between my work split shifts I could drop off a tire that had been slowly leaking for over 6 to eight months and ask the Plaza Tire professionals to see if this problem tire could be repaired. They were very busy when I arrived but the Manager Larry was more than happy to see what he and his crew could do this writer. Larry cautioned with a quick yet honest vocal disclaimer, "It may be awhile due to our very busy schedule at the moment." I was free for the next 3 hours and I could come back when the call from Plaza Tire was offered. I was about an hour away from entering my work for my second of the split shifts when i decided to give Larry a call to see if my tire was ready for me to pick up before I had to go into my work place. Larry told me after a couple of brief phone pauses that it was ready and that the leak had been the result of a screw lodge in the tread. I knew I had time to go and pick up the tire and pay the nominal fee. Rating of 5, Excellent.

I called on a Saturday morning around 11:30 to get 4 tires and they were busy but got me worked in and my Jeep alignment done as well. They were very professional and courteous as well. I’d highly recommend plaza tire service!
